Hi all

It's been a very stressful few weeks. I am now almost 31 weeks along with the twins. I saw my OB last week, who sent me straight from the office to the hospital for the first of two steroid shots to help mature the twins lungs. Doc thinks they could make their arrival any time now. wh and I have been preparing non stop for an early arrival. My hospital bag is nearly done, all of the baby clothes are washed and sorted. If they arrive before 36 weeks I am sure they will be in the hospital for a while but I wanted everything at home done. Wh has been great. He's exhausted.

Driving isn't really an option for me anymore since even in the truck my belly has started doing more of the steering lol. Thankfully my parents are picking up dd from school now and taking me to my appointments.

I will be having weekly non stress tests. It was during one of those tests that they discovered DD (5) wasn't doing well and I was sent up to the birthing unit. We have our fingers crossed that the twins can hang on for as long as possible. Both are so active.

Can anyone explain what it means that the babies are at the 53rd and 54th percentile? I had an ultrasound at the end of April and that's what the report said. Does it mean they are only 53% & 54 % of what they should be? Dd was at the 3rd percentile at birth at only 3lbs full term.

Other than that everything else is the same. I never touched on the renting problems from my last post. So far things are ok with us giving her every extra cent we have. The fact that the furnace never worked properly, ceiling is literally coming down in the hall, the Neighbours dog has crapped everywhere (sorry but having to clean up after someone else's damn dog just so my kids can go outside is ridiculous!!!), along with other problems has made it clear we won't be spending another winter here. We plan to be caught up and up to date by August, then will move before the kids start school.

Ugh! Twins that can arrive at any time plus a move, it's going to be a busy summer lol. One thing is for sure, life isn't boring. :)

The percentile is compared to average - so they are right where they should be.

i.e. If the babies were in the 20%ile that would mean that 80% of babies are larger than they are. Likewise 80%ile would mean they are bigger than 80% of babies at the same stage.

So yours are perfectly normal.

Is there some kind of housing authority or building code people you can report it to? In this area there is. They hold the landlord to a certain base level of livability and I would think ceilings coming down and a faulty furnace would be things codes would take issue with.

The percentile thing has always confused me lol. If they continue to grow as they should I will be a happy mommy.

I am sure there's probably someone I can report to. The place was under investigation and prevented from being a rental unit from what I was told (about two years before we moved in because the part we are in was vacant for over a year). Landlord did the bare minimum to get it to code. What upset me the most is that I asked the landlord about fire protection between our side and the new tenants. She get angry at me for asking BUT the tenants are smoking in their side and it's just to scary a chance of having a fire.

The percentiles represent the distribution of kids at that age across either height or weight. 53rd and 54th are just above average so I'd say they are just fine and if the chart is for all kids not just multiple births then I'd say your twins are in excellent shape. Wishing you much luck over the next few weeks in getting those twins developed.

Thank you very much. It's been a long road so far but I am hopeful everything will go well. I feel good so far :).

DragnHeart posted 5/8/2014 13:02 PM

I think I might have spoken to soon. Not feeling well at all. I was getting faint when I layed on my back. Now it's happening while I am standing and sitting. Doc said babies are putting pressure on a vein.

I am going to the hospital tomorrow for the first of a ton of scheduled bio physicals. I am starting to wonder now if they will let me come home.

It's going to be an interesting day. Wish me luck, I am at 31 weeks now. Let's hope these babies can hang on a bit longer :)

Sending "baby baking" mojo your way!!!!

DragnHeart posted 5/8/2014 14:02 PM

"baby baking mojo" that's perfect lol. Yes we need them to bake a bit longer lmao. Both at very active. Last night our baby boy was kicking and we could actually see the foot come out and make a bump. It was awesome. Well, it made wh a bit queasy lol

(((dragn & babies)))

Sending healthy mojo.

I haven't been able to sleep on my back for a long time without feeling like passing out. That feeling is now there when I sit and sometimes when I stand. That's why I think that today's test at the hospital will result in me staying...

I am soooooooo nervous!!!

Kajem posted 5/9/2014 07:27 AM

Good luck today.

DragnHeart posted 5/9/2014 17:16 PM

Well I am back from the hospital but not with good news.
Dragn baby boy has dropped to the 28th percentile, while Dragn baby girl is at the 12th. It's her that will determine when we deliver. The tech left to consult with the doc on call. I was allowed to leave only because I see my doc on Monday.

Stressed :)

Saw my doc today. He is content with leaving the babies in as long as they will last. As of tomorrow we'll be at 32 weeks, longer than he thought I would go so that's good. It's a day by day wait now. Wh has been strong but when I called him at work he actually broke down. With all the current problems we are having (financial) he's unsure what to do. The doc said that these babies will be tiny, even of I make it to 36 or 38 weeks so expect at least a month long hospital stay (dd was 38 weeks and spent two weeks in the NICU). Wh hasn't really gone into detail about his fears with the twins but I know he's stressed out about it.

We also got a call from DD's geneticist who said that yes she has a genetic mutation but so far it's a benign mutation and they will test for another condition after I get the permission forms. I told wh who broke down in tears. It's been a stressful weekend. I need a vacation lol

((DragnHeart, WH and babies)) Positive thoughts for all of you.
