Not messin' at all! We need a QB, but there isn't one in this draft worth #1 overall. How do you not take Clowney? Him+Watt = RIP Opposing QB

ETA: And if Cushing can come back healthy and Mercilus gets to pin his ears back...good lord. Texans may not need an offense at all.

True dat.

It's nice to see a SC player picked, especially after Lattimore's knees blew up and took away his #1 spot.

And I am a sucker for defense. If I had been a boy I would have played corner or safety.

Ugh...Lattimore. I was watching the game that ended his college career. That was ugly, and though I have no personal investment in SC, I couldn't help but feel for the guy. By all accounts he's an excellent human being (and football player obviously), and I hope he gets to prove his ability with the 49ers.

I was a wideout in HS. The first time I got lit up over the middle, I decided then and there I wanted to be a safety. Turns out you couldn't be as scrawny as I was and play safety, but I may have gained the respect of a few for getting right back up. Then again, that was HS (and despite the Texas HS football craze, some schools just are, well, bad like mine was). But yeah, I'm with ya there.

Now the Texans have Swearinger and Clowney. You rooting for the Texans yet?

Um, yeah.

Like I said, I'm a sucker for the defensive players.

But Lattimore... man, that kid is just a whole different animal. Awesome human being. Humble. Smart. Never heard one single bad report or story about him.

I gotta say, I do hope Connor Shaw gets picked up by somebody. That kid is the toughest qb we have ever had at SC.

I forget about Shaw as I imagine many folks who don't regularly follow SC do. All he did was win in the SEC, showed a ton of toughness, and Spurrier actually seemed to like him. He may go late round or undrafted, but I'd be shocked if he doesn't make a team and succeed if he gets a shot to take the field.

Now, can someone take Manziel already? Just tired of every pick being about him...

and a little

I don't hate the kid like some do. I just don't think he's worth all the attention, but what do I know?

at least it's just water he's drinking...or maybe vodka?

Like I said, I don't hate Manziel, but I guess I see why he's so easy to talk about - he's given everyone the material.

I like Bortles. Granted the Texans may kill him, but he seems like a guy with a ton of upside. Hopefully it makes for some interesting and competitive divisional matchups.

I had to call our mortgage company this evening. While I was on the phone with the agent, I asked if he knew what time the draft was starting. He said, "What draft?" I said,"Um, the NFL draft." Him: "No idea."

I said, "Dude, I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to turn in your man card."

This just in - Andrew Luck, Blake Bortles, and whoever is the Titan's QB just retired citing health reasons. "But, you guys aren't hurt?"

"Yeah, we'd like to stay that way."

I said, "Dude, I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to turn in your man card."

I get not everyone is into football, but hell, how can you not know the draft is today? At least have some idea? I will assemble the man council on this matter forthwith.

I feel sorry for him. It isn't his fault that the media gave him a dumbass name and couldn't stop talking about him. He actually seems like a nice person who really wants to just play football on a NFL team.

Dumb me, fell asleep on the 31st pick. Surprise, when I woke up after the 32nd pick, found out that we had a new QB. Teddy Bridgewater! Hhhmmmm, we have lots of QB's, the question is, can any one of them be good consistently?

LOTS of factors created his fall in the picks.

First, this was a draft rich in talent and there weren't that many teams looking for QB's. Teams had other more important slots to fill on both sides of the line before wasting a pick on a QB that will more than likely be a bench sitter for some time (to my point, the Browns first pick was a cornerback - a defensive position).

He's an out of the pocket scrambler which makes for exciting stuff when it's successful and disastrous loss of down results when it isn't. Like Wilson and Brees he's short which they've proven can be alright as long as a team has the defenders to keep a QB on their feet. Both Seattle and New Orleans have stellar defensive lines and the other teams have some building to do in this regard before they QB shop.

He didn't help his own image with his off the field antics, and NFL teams don't have the time or patience to babysit someone they are going to pay millions of dollars.

If anyone has seen "Draft Day", I had to laugh at the eerie outcome of this draft. To that, the Browns did a great job in the end getting done what they needed to do.

ETA: It will be up to Manziel to prove himself - if he sticks with learning the organization and the game, he'll do just fine.

@ SisterMilkshake - Congrats on Bridgewater! I didn't think he was #1 overall worthy for us, but I was hoping the Texans could get him with the first pick in the second round. I'm also glad Manziel got picked by Cleveland. There seems to be a huge fan base for him there already, and I hope he does have success. Like I said, I don't hate the guy, but I'm tired of all the media coverage (albeit some of it may be his fault, but certainly not all of it).
