1) There is nothing "cute" about it!

2) Ouch

3) It's the Dx I got when I went to urgent care today because my throat has been "rough" all day. Woke up with it on fire this morning.

No swollen glands, no real congestion, no cough... just this damned inflamed throat.

Dr said OTC's to soothe symptoms... but due to my up coming trip, she did give me an Rx for Z-Pak to fill just in case it gets worse.

I bought Halls and took Ibuprofen... and Sudefed to empty slightly congested head... will take Benadryl at bedtime.

Any other suggestions?

Oh... and prayers for a speedy healing would be helpful too... if you're so inclined!

Don't take the antibiotic unless they checked and you have strep. 95% of sore throats in adults are not bacterial.

If you have any drainage mucinex helps. If you think it's allergy related throw on some claritan. If it's just a red throat Advil or Tylenol and throat drops.

I came home sick today with the same thing. I've had mucinex and Tylenol. Sucked on throat drops and took a four hour nap.

I'm the doctor and didn't do anything else because there's nothing else to do. Rest and time.

Get better.

If I ever get a cold (which is rare) I always get pharyngitis and lose my voice!

Are you on Pinterest? If so, find my boards. I have a honey & lemon cough syrup recipe that's great for this sort of thing. If not, let me know and I'll send you the recipe when I get home tonight (can't access Pinterest from work )

You are important and you matter. Your feelings matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters. Your life matters. Always.

Dr PJ,

Sorry you're under the weather too... I promise I won't take the Z-Pak... didn't even get the Rx filled.

I've got Hall's "cough" drops and took generic ibuprofen... Drinking lots of liquids and I'm taking Zyrtec everyday already, due to seasonal allergies. I am also taking the "good" sudefed.

Sad... I'm gonna go look for you on Pinterest.

ETA: Found it... thanks Sad!!!

Ama took the words out of my mouth,

HONEY is a great soother of sore throats, and if you don't like it straight, in tea is good too. If you don't like tea put some in coffee.

As a beekeeper, you can imagine that we always have a stock of honey at our house, and though I'm not a big honey eater, I am a huge fan of it when I have a sore throat.

Nothing sooths better, and the good news it's cheaper than all the drugs you can buy and its all natural. Just make sure you get it from a farmers market and NOT your grocery store, most if not all of that stuff is not real honey, despite the label.

Anyway I digress, I hope you are feeling better soon.

If honey in the grocery store isn't honey... what is it?

It is mixed with sugar water and flavorings many times.

If you buy the store brand and then get it from you local farmers market you will be able to see, smell, and taste the difference.

It is also processes and pasteurized in the store. Heated to kill any of the wonderful antioxidants and good stuff in it. Bees magically compound this stuff and mankind has yet to replicate its chemical makeup.

The sore throat is gone for the most part... now it's all up in my head.

My nose is turning into a faucet!

I did make it to the Farmer's Market for some locally grown honey... I used it to sweeten my green iced tea that I made... I tried a sample... that's some good honey!
