So I got a second opinion since I was not secure in what my first gyn told me about my constant bleeding. I felt secure as soon as I walked I to this place, totally different vibe. She did a sonogram on the spot and wants me to get an mri done. Now heres the part that makes me nervous, I have a fibroid the size of the palm of your hand on the outside of my uterus. She also wants the mri because the sonogram isnt giving her enouvh info for a reason for the bleeding. (I have been bleeding since January stopped for the month of march due to being placed on progesterone but started again 3-4 weeks while on the meds). So now she says that she needs to go in and check the fibroid and do a biopsy to see if the cells are abnormal. She said she also wants to go in and "clear" my uterus and see if there's anything abnormal. Im pretty sure im gonna be put under and she said it can be painful after the procedure is over....I'm just worried about it all.

It's fairly routine to do surgery for painful bleeding fibroids if the hormones don't calm everything down.

((((Unagie)))) I'm so glad you went for a second opinion, hon. It can be scary to undergo these kinds of procedures. Do you have a good support system to help you through all this?

By "clear your uterus" does she mean a D&C? I've had two and it's not like a picnic in the park, but the recovery isn't too bad. Not as bad as I expected. I can't speak to the fibroid issue. ((HUGS)) I hope everything goes well!

I'm glad you went and got a second opinion.
Nothing makes me madder than when a woman goes to the Dr. for what I would call excessive (months on end) bleeding and they tell her it's "Normal".
Normal is a setting on the dryer!
Anyhoo, if the fibroid is on the outside, cleaning out the inside will not work, it will just grow back.
Mine was the size of a nice grapefruit, it was inside and outside. My Gyn told me that he could clean it out via ablation but it would grow back.
I had a hysterectomy.
Good luck, keep us posted.

You will be well again! We are all pulling for you, and from the sound of it you have a competent new OBGYN.

I had something similar that progressively got worse the older I got, about 2 years after I had my second child, I was done, D&C's didn't work, Ablation didn't work, hormones didn't work.
I was done using the parts so out they came. Honestly none of it was horrible to recover from. Even the hysterectomy. Make sure she gives you good pain meds, and treat yourself like a queen.
