Where can I get a d&c done immediately? My doctor and hospital won't do it tomorrow unless I can pay $1500 deposit cuz my insurance only covers $500. They told me they'd give me names and numbers of clinics that might be able to help me but that was 2 hours ago and after 5 calls I still have no info. I took off work tomorrow and day after for this surgery and now am being told nope can't help you. I am in tears I have been bleeding since ducking January no one gives me answers and now I feel I'm finally gonna get help and nope can't help you because you're poor and your insurance is shit. Help me please!!

Planned Parenthood offers many services. If they can't do a D&C, they may be able to point you in the correct direction.

Unagie,

I'm so sorry. I have had bleeding for extended periods of time. I even had to get a blood transfusion because my iron was so low one time.

I know how this feels.

Try Planned Parenthood first.

Try your neighborhood health center. There are low-cost/scale clinics all over.....this may help you find one near you. http://findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov/Search_HCC.aspx

Find a teaching hospital or one that works with the poor. Big cities have them. If you are indigent or low-income, they will work with you.....you need to talk with the financial manager. Before I had insurance, I ended up at the one in our area twice and after filling out the financial forms, all my care was free. When you go in, just tell them you are bleeding and it won't stop. Let them figure out what to do for you.

My doctor felt bad so she called as I was researching places. Said she called a colleague that accepts my insurance and would be able to do it for 5x less of the price so my insurance would fully cover it. Its for Friday or Saturday. Thanks again guys, sorry if im bothering anyone with my constant health posts I just dont have many places to turn.

OH Unagie - That stinks.

If you are in the US, the hospital can not turn your care away, if it is truly needed regardless of your ability to pay. If this happens again, schedule the procedure, and show up without funds. Tell them you need to set up a payment plan. They have to work with you.

I know many hospitals are getting more hard nosed about the up front money, but at the end of the day they can't deny services.

No problem....I know how scary it is when you don't have adequate insurance.

Hope the D&C takes care of it, it should. I have had several friends get those for heavy bleeding and they told me it helped.
