DS and I are on vacation this week. I drove 1190 miles to my home town area and we are hitting the hot spots!

Today we were sitting in a nice family restaurant having dinner and the lady behind me starts cursing. She was "pissed" off because she'd eaten too much. And then various other curses came out, like Shit and fuck. Now I'm not opposed to that language per se, but this was neither the time nor place. There were small children around and she wasn't exactly being quiet. Just pissed me the fuck off!!

Unfound... I did give the stink eye. And she was no teenager... she was at least in her 50's.

I guess bad manners knows no age!

It just seems to be the norm anymore. I'm amazed by the words I've heard coming from my third graders this year. Then they tell us their parents don't think it's a big deal.

Sigh.

Travels... I so hoped it was just my "bad" middle schoolers using that language! I'm sorry to hear it's trickled down to 3rd grade!

And I am betting that their parents either don't know... or if they do know they don't care.

I was shocked once when I overheard a late teens/early 20s young man talking on the phone:

"Mom, I fucking TOLD you..." Then a few sentences later, "Jesus f-ing Christ, Mom!"

To his MOTHER.

Mine would reach through the phone and slap me in the face if I spoke to her that way. SMH.

We had a few kindergarten kids drop the f-bomb this year, too. There have been times this school year when I said I was witnessing the downward spiral of society.

Then I remind myself there are more good than bad, for now, anyway.
