Thank you all again for providing your support with my sick girl. The medication is obviously helping to take the edge off - she's able to get up/down and walk outside to relieve herself. She still struggles to get up or lay back down. She's not okay, largely she's just able to get around when needed - she's not being playful and will only wag her tail periodically (like when I get home), she doesn't even get up to greet me. I'm used to fussing at her at 6:00am when she gets up and stairs at me (being a mastiff she's eye level with the bed) wagging that tail so hard it's slamming the wall! This morning I didn't have work so I woke up about 8:00 - it took her a few minutes to be able to get out of bed.

I hate watching her in so much pain and discomfort. It's heartbreaking. I'm glad that she can rest and be more comfortable, but...

Today I was sending a message to my boss, he wanted me to reschedule something the same day as her vet appointment. He's a great boss and doesn't make unreasonable demands, but I had to tell him that I couldn't reschedule the appointment as this wasn't just a "check up" and explained... I got teary-eyed because my mind went to the whole "what-ifs"?

((((Hurtbs))))

It sucks to watch them in pain, and they are so strong, and so stoic about it.

TT your vet about acupressure/puncture, and water therapy for her. It can make a big difference for them.

I'm sorry your poor old girl is having this pain problem and I hope the meds start to have a cumulative effect of making her feel significantly better. It's really hard when dear dogs start having serious geriatric issues; you have my sympathy.

((((hurtbs))) Has the vet figured out what is wrong? This sounds alot like something that happened to my Black Lab late in life. It was very sudden. The vet said she would need surgery but she was already 17 and I didn't want to do that to her. He gave me some arthritis medication and pain pills. About a week and a half later she was fine. It just took some time for the medication to work. Hopefully it's the same with your beauty.

@Charity - the appointment with the specialist isn't until next week.
