You know....when I first realized that I had to make the big change from free childcare with my sister (who I was having constant toxic battles with) and paying top dollar for daycare.....I felt very discouraged and frustrated that I couldn't do it all AND still keep my own place too. It was a very humbling experience moving back home with my toddler and living with my dad.
I was very blessed growing up and having such an amazing father figure with a 2-parent household. I remember crying while pregnant and feeling so sad knowing my daughter would not have the same thing; knowing I had to be both of her parents rolled up in one. I grieved the life that I wished for her; that cookie-cutter American dream that I had hoped to have with my XWH before his A. But, life had other plans....
Little did I know....that what felt like a huge sacrifice.....has ended up a blessing in disguise. My daughter is forming a closer bond with my dad than she would have ever had before we moved. She looks up to him and he is a strong, independent, sweet male role model that she can respect and admire! She DOES have a father figure!!!!
(now granted.....I need to start calling him Papu - her nickname for him because she has caught on to "Dad" and has called him that a few times..... um no.)
When I do get my financials in order in a few years and we move again, she will have a bond with my dad that will last a lifetime! I'm thankful everyday for having his help and his love and his support. There will NEVER be enough words to express the love and gratitude that I have for my father. He is a good man and he has set the bar high for any man that I allow in our lives. We are very blessed!
Happy Early Father's Day to all of you good fathers out there! Thank you for all you do for your children! For loving them. For caring for them. For being in their lives and helping mold them into amazing adults that their own children can admire and grow to be like! I know there are lots of guys out there, like my daughter's father, who give REAL dads a bad name. But, I also know that there are really amazing men out there who have truly earned the title of DAD!
Thanks guys! I know I speak for all of us girls out there when I say that we appreciate you!
