Just fixed it yesterday. It was the damn spark plug. Can't complain about a $2.36 replacement part, though, I suppose.
My 'backup':

If I was a dad--and had a lawn--that needed mowing--I'd get one of these:

This was my Dad's lawn mower. For some reason, it took two of us to start it - one to hold the "hood down with a screw driver (if you just pushed it down with your hand, you would get a shock), and one to pull the cord. That damn thing wouldn't die. It probably lasted 30 years.

How did I miss this thread all day!!
I'm not a Dad but I'm sharing my mowers.
This is just stock pic of my mower.
My baby. 60" 30hp exmark lazerZ with vac system and upgraded seat.
I've got 2 others plus a couple of push mowers but they're not my favorites.

I don't have a lawnmower.
If I did, she'd look like one of these:

Losferwords,
How often have you had to replace the cable that drives the wheels because the little plastic mounting knob breaks?
LosferWords posted 6/15/2014 11:49 AM
Myname - I haven't had that happen yet, and I have owned it for about 3-4 years now. I'll have to keep an eye on that. Chronic problem with the Toros, I take it?

I'll see if I can find a pic later...currently out beating up my 2002 John Deere GT245. But I'd trade it for one of JJ's mowers

And...this is part of why we owned a single-family home for 6 of the 46+ years we've been M and part of why we moved to a condo almost 16 years ago.
Just sayin'....

I've had mine for a couple of years. Of course being used commercially so it got a fair amount of use but not excessive. Maybe a couple of small lawns a week. The little plastic piece at the top was breaking every couple of months long before the actual cable would break. We figured out a way to jerry rig it so it stopped breaking and lasted a year before the actual cable broke.
It takes forever to change too. Like 1-2 hours. When it did break the last time I went to home depot and bought a Honda mower. I love it and so do my guys. I also think that it will be easier to work on.
