Tonight I am broken hearted. At almost exactly this time yesterday, a 13 year old girl took a corner too fast on a 4-wheeler. She and her younger brother went off the edge. They were both thrown from the atv. He broke his leg badly enough to require surgery, but is stable. She was rushed to the hospital, but died last night due to her injuries.
Her dad was my husband's boss. Her mother was a classmate of mine and this time a year ago ran, fully clothed, into a hotel swimming pool to help me right one of my boys who had flipped in his floatie. This couple would give the shirt off their back to anyone who even appeared to be in need. We are a small community and everyone is grieving together at the loss of this young life (the second in that age group in the past 12 months). We are all, once again, reminded that nothing in life is promised and to hug our children a little tighter, say I love you a little more often and enjoy the moments we are given.
