The Medal of Honor was awarded today to Lance Corporal Kyle Carpenter, USMC. He is from our town. In 2010 he jumped on a grenade and took the brunt of the explosion, saving the life of a fellow Marine.
We watched the ceremony today and I cried.
Ooh rah, Marine. Semper fi.

I had to read up on him. Looks like he is the youngest recipient. He is now medically retired and going to college with a 3.9 GPA. A true hero that apparently not even a grenade can keep down. Amazing. I got goosebumps reading his story.

Tracionada, he actually survived the blast. He is an absolutely amazing human being.
In awe of that kind of bravery.

He was on the News Hour in a long interview tonight. He's clearly an amazing, very special guy.
