What type of radio station do you listen to? Top 40? Country?

I am usually a slave to the "scan" button, but am recently hooked on this local station that plays what they purport to be the greatest hits of all time. It's a mix of everything from the Temptations, Elton John, Heart, Journey, Billy Joel, the Beatles, the Eagles, Bob Seger, Hall and Oates, Simon and Garfunkel... I dunno really what all they play, but the station makes me smile.

I'm only 33. Don't judge.

I'm a classic rock girl. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, CCR, Buffalo Springfield. If it's classic rock I'll listen to it.

WFMT and WBEZ - classical music and NPR. Yes, I like brie....

I scan for jazz when I'm in the car alone. If I can't find it, I'll go for an oldies station because I'm more likely to know the lyrics so I can sing along.

The radio stays OFF when I ride with the kids because they have horrible taste in music and we just can't agree on anything.

I scan a lot - plus listen to sports talk. My favorite genre is rock, but I listen to a pretty wide variety. Satellite radio is a must.

Deeply Scared posted 6/24/2014 09:51 AM

Mostly classic country and other times pop 40

Newlease posted 6/24/2014 09:51 AM

Oldies and Rock, depending on where I'm driving. I loose a station and pick up another.

NPR almost exclusively, then the local Alice station.

My preference is jazz but I have a hard time finding any decent stations around here. Most of the time I listen to country but lately I have also split my time with Christian contemporary. Occasionally I'll listen to top 40 but those ties are becoming fewer and fewer.

HFSSC posted 6/24/2014 12:31 PM

98% of the time I'm listening to a Christian radio station. I'm such a dork with the calling in during the morning/afternoon drive time shows that I'm actually now personal friends with almost the entire staff of the station.

The other 2% of the time I listen to either classic rock or a station that's pretty eclectic. "The best of the 80s, 90s and today's music" is how they bill themselves.

LosferWords posted 6/24/2014 12:34 PM

I usually flip between the hard rock station and the alternative rock station that we have here locally.

I have a big stack of Rush CD's, in case I am ever in the car with NIK.

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music. The station I talked about above is just what has me smiling lately. I'll alternate between Top 40, oldies, classic rock, contemporary Christian, 80s-90s and today! stations... heck, just about anything besides rap and heavy metal. I'm not a major fan of country music either. Classic country is okay and there are some current artists I like.

MovingUpward posted 6/24/2014 13:57 PM

I stream 2 different online radio stations. They play music to dance West Coast swing. So there is pop, rock, blues etc that have a danceable tempo and beat structure.

I bounce around a lot too. Mornings I listen to this trashy top 40/hip hop type show, on the way home it's usually classic rock, country or 90'a alternative.

I really want to get a new car stereo so I can have Pandora in my car. My "Mr. Brightside" station is a mix of classic rock, punk, alternative, indie, and synth-pop.

BrokenButTrying posted 6/24/2014 14:20 PM

I don't 'do' radio. My taste is too eclectic so I have my iPod in the car instead.

gahurts posted 6/24/2014 14:39 PM

Also, when I'm working I listen to piano/ classical music on Pandora and on the boat it Jimmy Buffet and similar music.

purplejacket4 posted 6/24/2014 15:30 PM

I like Top 40 from the 50s through today. I'm boring.

h0peless posted 6/24/2014 16:03 PM

Almost exclusively NPR. There was a modern rock station I would listen to sometimes when NPR was playing something really lame like Prairie Home Companion but they recently switched the format to Tejano so now I just turn off the radio on Sunday mornings.

BrokenRoad posted 6/24/2014 17:01 PM

Pop music, and doesnt matter how old it is, so I will find myself in the 80s music station now and then.

Second choice would be country. I go on and off country now and then, get tired of it, then come back.
