We had grilled pork roast, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. And I made lemon blueberry cake for dessert. Oh, and I'm drinking white wine-peach sangria.

Since I have the kids two weekends in a row+Mon/Tue and then Jul 4 this period I've been cooking up a storm, big quantities, and saving leftovers. Spent all day in the kitchen. And still going!
But that way the babysitter has lots of good things to reheat while I work (kids on vacation eat more). After cleaning I'll probably collapse.
Last night I baked a 4th of july cake. DD8 and I decorated it as a flag with frosting. Lunch was Mesquite chicken, Spaghetti and black bean+corn+pea salad with cilantro.
I'm currently making chicken soup from scratch, another batch of black beans, Mexican rice and will be putting more chicken in the oven with bbq marinade for chicken sandwiches (for lunch this week). Should have done it with the lunch batch but I didn't think of it until now. Need to get better at planning.
For drink it's beer. It's been a few though, it's hot in the kitchen and it's summer.
Tired but enjoying the fact that the kids have lots of great options beyond Mac & Cheese. Having been the BH I didn't do a lot of cooking before. It's entertaining and I'm appreciating honing my new mad skillz. The kids eat it happily so it must be good, right?

Arby's Junior Roast Beef left over from last night??
Keep at it, GotPlayed!! I find being in the kitchen to be soul-cleansing! AND, if the kids eat happily, yes, you're doing it right!!!

Most likely nothing. My H is working nights this week, so we have our big family meal when he gets up at 2pm. My daughter is gone to her dad's and my boys are already asleep. We had breakfast earlier. Scrambled eggs, biscuits and sausage gravy. Maybe a salad or an apple and some peanut butter later.

I don't know about dinner tonight, yet, but I went all Martha Stewart and made strawberry ice cream and bread pudding (had some leftover rolls I hated to see go to waste).
I need to do something with squash, green beans, and cucumbers. I'd like to learn to make an icebox dill pickle, but I don't even know if that exists- I just thought they might be crunchier than a cooked dill.

TIKY, a quick google search form 'refridgerator dill pickles' on my phone turned up 10 results on the first page that were all recipes. Just FYI.
We will have an early afternoon dinner here again. Skirt steak with chimichurri and new potato, squash and green pea hash. It's almost done and smells divine.

Only July 15, then we ate more than I thought!!
Great work, GotPlayed. You're my hero! It's a good sign that the kids eat it happily.
I ate so much at the G2G breakfast with everyone yesterday that I wasn't all that hungry the rest of the day. Not used to eating that much. I agree with Tesla. All the food all weekend was great, especially Friday night!
My plane was delayed and I got home an hour late, so just something small to hold me over. I guess I'll have my birthday dinner tonight.

Saturday night I had made paprika chicken (recipe follows) so I cut that up and warmed it up in butter and served with onions and peppers and mushrooms in buns.
Chicken Paprika:
1 pkg chicken breasts, pounded 1/2 inch thick
crumb mixture
- breadcrumbs
- Hungarian paprika
- kosher salt
- black pepper
- garlic salt
olive oil
large frying pan with a lid
(Note: pound chicken between saran wrap layers for less mess)
dredge chicken in crumb mixture and cook in frying
pan until golden brownish red, flip, and cook
with the lid on to cook through.
Repeat til done.
Serve with mashed potatoes and brown sugar carrots

I had to hurry to whip up some Beef Stroganoff because when I got home, my roommate was rushing to pack to fly across the country because his uncle died and I didn't want him to have to fly on an empty stomach. I enjoyed my stroganoff with a Firestone Union Jack IPA and I'm having a slice of leftover peach pie as soon as I can fit more food into my belly.

I made pot roast, potatoes, corn on the cob, peas from my garden, salad and Dutch Apple Pie for dessert. The pie was store bought. Saving my pastry skills for quiche on the weekends.

Waywardson came home hungry (even though he works in a restaurant
) , so I had to whip up something in a hurry. We had hot dogs (Hebrew National dogs simmered in a beer broth, then grilled and topped with chili, slaw, and sriracha).
