I'm undecided and we live on the East Coast, so I'm not sure if Arthur is going to throw a big ole soggy wrench into our plans.

What are your plans? I'm looking for a little inspiration.

We are having a "Hot Dog Bar". H has googled all kind of different dogs - Chicago style, frito dog, taco dog, etc. We will have the fixings and everyone can dress their dog as they prefer.

Hot dog bar sounds great, but I'll have to try that another time since we JUST had hot dogs (as late as last night!).

So far, all I have that I know I'll make for sure is potato salad. We'll probably have a watermelon, too.

We've got a brisket.

WTF do you do with a brisket?

Ideas welcome.

Anything that can be cooked on the grill or in a microwave. I'm staying with friends at their camp in the Berkshires, and mice nested in their oven. I can't tell you how awful it smelled when we tried to cook on Easter They need a new oven.

I'm bringing the sangria

Honey, you're in TX now you'd better figure this out pronto! Brisket is the national dish of Texas (also Brooklyn, but that's another story... )

I posted a link for him that tells everything you need to know about Texas brisket! It's an article, but it's like a book!

So you'll be having peaches?? Wait until AFTER the run! Best of luck to you and I hope it's not too hot.

I still haven't even decided on a meat. And that oven mice story really killed my appetite!

Tuna salad? Why did you choose that one particular food to celebrate the fourth?

Because that was always my favorite thing about summer. Tuna, noodles, and some celery. Perfect

Wow. You're probably going to think I'm some kind of a freak, but I have NEVER heard of tuna salad that contained noodles!! It's always just been the tuna, celery, some onion, maybe a little pickle relish, some mayo, salt and pepper- and served on bread, crackers, celery sticks, a slice of tomato, or a lettuce leaf. I have never heard of adding pasta! Huh. You really DO learn learn something new every day!

We had some tuna salad with dinner tonight!

We'll be doing burgers, brats and dogs with potato salad and other fixings. Haven't figured out what kind of beer yet. I'm thinking I might be in a wheat beer mood. Root beer for the kiddo.

Did it have pasta in it??

I like a REALLY hoppy beer in the heat of summer- like Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA. It's not for everyone, I know! Waywardson doesn't like it. I call it "The wha-BAM!".

Yes it did have pasta in it. Rotini, to be exact, along with celery and onion. Not meant for sandwiches.

I am a big time hop head. Torpedo is great!

Ummmm food is on the menu.

Since it's just the three of us, we don't do much for the 4th.

I haven't even thought about it really.

Watermelon would be good...

It's just the three of us, too, but we love to make a party of three for holidays!

REALLY!!?? I've only heard of pasta with tuna in something like a tuna helper- a cheesy dish served warm.
