A guy who hosts a folk music show on our local university radio station was at my weekly open stage last night. He said that he needed a musician to appear on his show at 7am today. I thought it sounded cool, so I volunteered.

Getting up at 5am kind of sucked, and I was very nervous for the whole bus ride. Once I got there, the host put me right at ease. I had been up most of the night worrying about what I was going to say, but he just lead me along so that I didn't have to worry about it. I sang and played two songs, and answered questions about them - as well as the places I regularly play.

It was so cool! This would not be happening if I had still been living out in the country suburbs with whatsername!

Oh yeah ... the host asked me where the inspiration came from for one of the songs I played. I told him it was from the "marital transition" that I was going through right now. He enjoyed that terminology.

Congrats Pass! Glad you were able to have a positive life experience in the midst of your "marital transition"

Fantastic!! Amazing how you are blooming now that the life isn't being sucked out of you by Princess Whatshername.

Hey, didn't I just see you post in NB the other day that you're not ready for NB? This sounds like it belongs on that side of the fence, not this (S/D) side!

ETA: Also, good job!! Glad you are having fun.

If there is ever a recording, I know we would love to hear it!

Congrats on being recognized for the awesome person you are!

Thanks, y'all.

Amazing how you are blooming now that the life isn't being sucked out of you by Princess Whatshername.

It really is amazing what we can all do when we aren't being constantly stomped into submission. I went from having my own band when I met her, to thinking I sucked and that people were just being kind when they applauded, to finally getting back out there with some confidence and enjoying playing again. Other than getting two fantastic kids out of the deal, marrying her is the worst thing I ever did for myself.

Gotta admit. I've spent some time in NB - and they're nice and all - but I just feel like I would be jinxing things by posting in there. Also, y'all are family at this point. Maybe someday I'll be ready to at least straddle the two forums.

If there is ever a recording, I know we would love to hear it!

I think it takes a couple weeks for the station to archive the shows to their site. When that happens, I'll definitely post the link.

Thanks again for all your kind words.

Congratulations Pass.

FaithFool posted 7/8/2014 13:40 PM

Hard to find willing musicians at that hour, well done!

Pass posted 7/8/2014 14:30 PM

Okay, it turns out that I know nothing about how long it takes the radio station to archive their shows. The host just sent me this link, in case anyone is interested in listening:

http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/60/info.html

Just click on today's date (July 8), and it will start playing.

I think my singing sounded a little pitchy on the first song, but am happier with how it sounded on the second. Had to censor the words "arse" and "pissed" from that song. "Barnacle's butt" is a little too alliterative for my tastes, but was the best I could do on short notice.

My segment of the show starts at about 10 minutes 45 seconds and ends at about 26 minutes 30 seconds.
