Has anyone used HomeAway before? We are scheduled to be at the beach next week and staying at a house that we found online via HomeAway. We haven't heard from the home owner since we signed the renal agreement and I'm starting to freak out. Is this normal?

Yes, we have used Homeaway several times.

I don't recall any further correspondence after the final payment.

Have you tried emailing them?

We, too, have used it several times and have never been disappointed. Have you followed up with the owner? I always ask for a cell phone # in case we get lost/need to get hold of them.

I would touch base via email just to confirm.

We've emailed and called over the last couple of days. I'm just concerned that we will get there with a full car and DD and not be able to get in.

Try not to panic. It may just be that they themselves may be on vacation right now also.

Ha! I'm a plan-ahead type of person so not having the information is actually making me extremely nervous, which isn't helping my bursitis.

Are you dealing directly with the owner or a property management company? I've used HomeAway and VRBO many times and in different countries and I have never, ever had a problem. They may not tell you the key code until closer til, as a security precaution. The not responding would bother me too, but I've never, ever had anyone flake.

We are dealing with the property owner. Prior to this, he responded very quickly to all inquiries so I find it concerning that he isn't now.

From your collective experiences, when is check-in information normally received?

We've used HomeAway. I don't remember too much correspondance after payment until like 24 hours before when they gave us the check in info.

I had a question (we go on Saturday) but didn't know how to get ahold of the owner. It was a question that HomeAway couldn't answer. So, I pretended I wanted to schedule another week there so the email would automatically go to the owner. I just said this is RachelC and we have the place next week and was wondering where the best place is to rent a boat.

We used HomeAway in London last year and got instructions about 48 hours ahead of time. We were dealing with a property manager though.

Good luck! Have a great time at the beach!
