There a zillion different AD's out there. It is really a matter of trial and error to find the right one for you, so definitely go ahead and make an appt and get the process started immediately. You will need to give each a good trial, usually 4 - 6 weeks before figuring out if a particular AD is working for you.
I will say avoid EFFEXOR. It has some horrible withdrawal issues, and I have friend that actually attempted suicide while trying to withdraw from Effexor.
I have taken Lamictal and Wellbutrin for many years, and I am very very happy with the results.

Ask your doctor about Trazadone. Under other names but don't know them...mild ... antianxiety/ sleep aid. I only needed low dose...helped take the edge off so I could function. I have an anti-meds mentality and was reluctant but these really helped me function and after a year I felt like I could deal on my own and weaned off quickly w/o problems.
