While at work today, I realized how I apologize for everything and I feel guilty for everything. I shouldn't when I did not do anything to feel guilty or apologize for.

I shouldn't have to apologize for packing my lunch in a brown paper bag.

I shouldn't be guilted in to do volunteer service when I have plans.

I shouldn't have to apologize for being kind.

I shouldn't have to apologize or feel guilty for not pleasing anyone or feeling like I did something wrong when I did not. I know it's because I always apologized growing up and everyone in my family guilted me into feeling the way I did. I will not let that take over me.

What I can apologize for is hurting BBF and causing him the pain and suffering that he is going through. I can apologize for not putting BBF first and putting his life at risk for an STD. I can apologize for not putting him first.

I can apologize for calling and order to an at a restaurant and find out that I placed it in the wrong state. I would have got upset at myself for not looking and realizing that's what I did. But instead I laughed it off. Today is a new day, and I will only apologize for when I feel is right. Not because I feel guilted.

Good plan, Matilda!

For some reason, in my experiences, many women do this. It makes me sad. I wish we could all be strong and confident enough to not feel like we need to constantly be apologizing to the world.

I'm glad you're taking steps to be confident and committed to being yourself and not feeling like you have to apologize for it!
