At risk of us all "dating" ourselves, how about some memories of some of your favorite or most wanted toys from your childhood? I'll start:

All the girls in my class were getting these. I wanted one in the worst way. I finally got one in my Easter basket... had it about a week or so, and it got stolen. My parents got me another one.... it broke. Eventually, I must have gone through at least 4 or 5 of them. And I was (still am) a klutz, so I wasn't very good at it... but I still loved it!

Ok - I wanted this one in the worst way. I got it for Christmas. I woke up Christmas morning (we opened our presents on Christmas Eve), excited. I couldn't wait to feed her.

I mixed up the food - it was a powder that ended up looking a little like jello, but it had a chemical, plastic-like smell. There were a few "flavors" (different colors), and I just had to pick green. Obviously, as this was just a doll, the "food" came out of the doll looking just like it went in.

Somehow, seeing (and smelling) this stuff in the doll's diaper did me in. I didn't feed, or even play with, the stupid thing again! This is the doll schools should use to make kids not want to get pregnant at too young an age!

Are boyz allowed??

simplydevastated posted 7/10/2014 10:20 AM

This was my favorite. I made so many suncatchers. My mom still has one of them.

Not to mention ...

And that time I tried to make my brother glow in the dark ...

(note the radiation burn, right side of face, LOL)

I never liked Barbie dolls. But I HAD to have these. I didn't even get other clothes for the doll - after all, she was always riding nugget, so she didn't need any other clothes. I loved them... probably Nugget more than Dusty. I think they may still be in my mom's attic.

@Truly - of course boys are allowed... here's one for you:

This was actually my brother's, but I loved it. We fought every time he got it out to play with it, because I wanted to play too. And boy did he get mad the time he was out somewhere and came home to find me playing with it (I was 4 years younger, and he was afraid I'd break it).

Nice!

I know Tinker Toys were the more popular toy, but we had Lincoln Logs, and they were a blast. This was when almost all the pieces, including the roof slats, were still actual wood!

I loved this game - and my mom hated it, since the goal of the game was to overflow the teacups. It usually resulted in water everywhere.

I have no idea why I loved this - I never could do it very well. The elastic string inevitably broke within a day or two. My brother and I always ended up using the paddles on each other. And once it broke, mom would appropriate the paddle to swat us with! We'd get one of these in our Easter basket almost every year, and sometimes in the Christmas stocking as well.

Best Christmas EVER I got this -

And each of us kids got one of these -

It was a Band Aid and Bactine Christmas.

Osxgirl, I completely forgot I had one of those Lemon Twists or something like it.

I don't know if these were favorites, but I remember having them.

Farrah Fawcett make up/hair station.

Barbie camper bus.

Charlie's Angel Board Game.

All odd choices because I was a real tom-boy at heart.

Which lead to Rod Carew Batting Trainer

How could I forget this!

Razzie - I got one of those as a wedding gift. Still have it in my garage. Full working order

Jrazz posted 7/10/2014 11:40 AM

NIK... I swear that this isn't a reason why you are my homegirl for life.... but this will be one of the reasons why you will NEVER be able to get rid of me.

LosferWords posted 7/10/2014 11:40 AM

I had one of these:

Here was a favorite I remembered.
