The job search has come to a screeching halt. None of the opportunities that were presented to me by the recruiters have resulted in a job offer. It's been very disheartening as the August 1st move date looms on the horizon.
On the other hand, I had a meeting with the CFO today.
Long story short, he offered me an increase in salary starting immediately with a lump sum payout bonus in February. He also offered $50 per month allowance towards a Peach Pass (pay lane for high traffic times). I know this is their way of keeping me there through the transition of the move and the controller retiring. The increase is a nice gesture but it's by no means generous. He asked my thoughts and I told him the truth, I need more to keep me there.
He said he does not want to loose me, he admitted that he needs me more than I need him and asked me to give him a day to talk with the owner and CEO to see what more he can offer. I was able to shed some light on some of the other duties I perform which he seemed unaware of, actually took notes about and admitted it adds to my value to the company.
I should know something tomorrow.
Please send some major mojo my way for tomorrow.

He's flying out this afternoon to visit the facilities in another state. He said he would call me either yesterday afternoon or this morning. Waiting................
He'll be gone the remainder of the week then he's gone next week on vacation. I hope he doesn't keep me hanging, that's not cool at all.

I just got off the phone with the CFO. They are going to work the bonus into my salary which basically amounts to a 12% increase, plus I get to keep the $50 per month Peach Pass allowance.
I just had my annual in May and got 2% which is the company cap due to the struggling industry I'm in.
So a 14% increase overall this year...I'm a happy camper. This will keep me with my current company at least until my lease is up in May 2015.
Yay me!!

Great News!
Celebrate- the increase is wonderful!
If you can still negotiate a bit I would suggest longer but fewer days or a change in hours.
The difference between a 45 minute drive and a 2 hour drive home makes a huge difference.
Congrats!

Fireproof, we did discuss flexible hours. My job does not require me to be in the office for specific hours, just so long as I'm here 40 hrs a week.
My plan is to work 7-3:30 initially. If I can go until 4pm Mon-Thurs I'll be able to leave by 1:30 on Fridays. I'll have to play all this by ear once I'm actually making the commute.
I've lined up a dog walker that I'll have to pay $10 a day Mon-Thurs so I won't have to worry so much about rushing home. Although I am testing them to see how they do going 11 hours. I will probably still utilize the dog walker even if my dogs can go 11-12 hrs, just so that I don't have to walk them after a long commute home.
