That sinking feeling you get when you hear the toilets about to.

So...my 13 yr old comes out of the bathroom after flushing..and I'm hearing that gurgling, swishing, about to overflow noise toilets make before they are on the brink of the abyss. Time slows down and I'm thinking..do I make a mad dash with the a bunch of towels???.. Have the kids left anything on the floor???...Do I have time for the plunger???...Where are the dogs??? And then Niagra Falls. The joy.

I repeat over and over in my mind "I love my life, I love my life, I love my life....." as I'm mopping the barely cleaned bathroom floor.

Aah...the fun of single motherhood, sigh!

I know that sound well. what's worse is when you DON'T hear it and come home to 3 inches of toilet water on the floor

Yes! I have had that happen as well! I think I may need new plumbing.

Teach them 3 things:

(1) How to turn off the water at the toilet if it appears likely to overflow

and

(2) If you flush and it doesn't clear the bowl, do NOT flush again - time to plunge.

(3) (women only) NEVER flush sanitary products (ask a plumber if you don't believe me).

This is called "teenage toilet training."

I'm really, really sorry for laughing. I just know the feeling.

I like your mop mantra.

It happens to all of us if that's any comfort.

And the joke will be on me the next time I'm in your place!
