I forced myself to go to my doctor to get STD tests. It has been almost a month since D day. I have never had a herpes test. Never really thought about it. Got the test because doctor mentioned it. I have gotten other tests before. I am still numb. I have not cried at all. I am sure I am in shock. Life can change instantly. I knew this before, now it is my reality.

OMG - I'm so sorry. It's unbelievable that his selfishness could do this.

Again - I'm sorry

I'm so sorry. It's truly amazing to me, that someone who theoretically loves you and wants only the best for you, could blithely put your health at such risk. (((hugs)))

@painfulpast......Thank you. I wish cheaters knew the pain they caused in a real way.

steadfast1973 posted 7/31/2014 16:51 PM

Me, too. on top of that, I've had many outbreaks due to stress. 4 outbreaks in the almost 9 months, since he got it from the hooker. And! I am allergic to acyclovir. So I just have had to suffer through it.

My husband does understand the pain. He doesn't take the acyclovir, either, even though he has no issue taking it. He has also had three outbreaks. I only wish he'd considered before.

threeofus posted 7/31/2014 16:52 PM

Thanks everyone!!!! I did not and have not had any symptoms. From what I read, some people do not have symptoms at all. I also read that some people do not know they have it and that it is very common. I encourage anyone reading this to get tested if you have not.

(((HUGS)))) so VERY VERY SORRY For you. The WS crew never think much of these things, they only think of this > ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME.

God bless you and take very good care of yourself, hopefully you can control the virus most of the time.

I'm really sorry, it's a horrible diagnosis to get. I have it too but I've only ever had one outbreak and nothing since then. I hope it stays under control for you.

I know this is really hard to do but it might be worth considering that you didn't get it from your WH. If you've never been tested for it until now it's entirely possible that you've had it for years and not known. Mine has been inactive for eleven years, if I hadn't had that first initial outbreak I wouldn't have a clue.

I'm really sorry about your diagnosis. That said, I tested positive for herpes after my husband's ONS - but he hadn't touched me between the time of the ONS and the test. I have apparently had it (we both have) for years with zero symptoms. It isn't necessarily going to be a life-changer. I do get cold sores (different strain of herpes) and Lysine supplements help a great deal with that. It's my understanding that it can also help with genital herpes.

SunshineSoul posted 7/31/2014 23:04 PM

I just found out today that I have it too. I'm in shock.

I had the full panel of STD tests not long after I found out about the cheating. I tested negative for both strains, and everything else. However, stupid, stupid, STUPID me continued to sleep with my husband unprotected, who had not yet been tested. He kept putting it off, saying he knew he was clean. I put an end to the sex last week and insisted he get tested. My instinct was screaming at me. Turns out he has herpes. So I got retested. I'm now positive.

I'm such a fool.

This not the end of the world. Which type do you have, 1 or 2?

1 is the common one. My doctor warned me ahead of time for my testing, 1 in 4 people have herpes type 1. The cold sore variety. My doctor says it's so common and not a big deal.

My WW tests negative for it. But I tested positive for antibodies. He says there's no way of knowing when I was exposed, just that I was.

I've never taken a std test before, so who knows when. Never had a outbreak or any suspicious symptoms.

Guinness23 posted 8/1/2014 03:47 AM

Big hugs.

I have suffered from type 1 since 1993. When I was a kid, I had relatives constantly wanting to kiss on the lips. It is the ONLY way I COULD have gotten it in my system, I think.

In 1993, I got the sickest I EVER got in my life. I had 4 different infections going on in my body and it weakened it so much, the cold sore virus (herpes 1) reared its ugly head and hasn't left me alone since.

My point is is that people retain symptom free for a long time until something calls it up and an outbreak happens.

Maybe this true for Herpes 2. All I know is that when I was married and now when I have dated, the very SECOND a cold sore rears up, I shut down sexually. I will NOT share it with anyone...because it CAN bring about Herpes 2

SunshineSoul posted 8/1/2014 08:29 AM

Type 2 for me.

Right you are. Pure selfishness !!!

threeofus posted 8/1/2014 10:19 AM

Thanks again everyone for sharing and the encouragement.

@ Uneasy - I have both HSV1 and HSV2. My doctor said most people have HSV1.

I have had a few cold sores in my life, but not many. The last one may have been within the last two years. I did not think much of it. My doctor said I had the antibodies. I got a phone call while at work, so I could not ask a ton of privacy at work at all. I don't know when or where I got this. I was intimate with only my ex-husband for over 20 years. He of course was unfaithful. Since then, I have only been intimate with 2 people and both was unprotected (I asked about other STD's and those partners were fine). I told the most recent person...figuring I would work my way backwards. I did get the medication and took my first pill last night. Again, I am still in shock. I see myself differently now....not perfect.

Anyone else have any outbreaks or suggestions for dealing with this emotionally? I am going to an IC. She is very good. That will be helpful to me.

Ostrich80 posted 8/1/2014 10:54 AM

I am so sorry..all of you that have been not only emotionally and mentally hurt but now physicallly. The recklessness of such selfish actions.

steadfast1973 posted 8/1/2014 10:58 AM

I only have type 2.
