She's based out of my old state, but is in town on a business trip this week and says she would like to talk about a possible internal job opportunity. That's pretty damn cool, even if nothing comes out of it.

EDIT: clarified that there MAY be a job opportunity, not definite

They obviously see what the recruiters have been seeing in you - value and talent and great worth!!

Just make sure that it doesn't become a path of least resistance - you know what you are worth in salary and benefits to other companies, so make sure your company is able to match that!

Thanks! I hope something good comes out of it. :)

Amazonia, if I understand the policies correctly I would at the very least, and most likely, stay at my current salary/benefits, which if I'm reading the market correctly is quite competitive with other companies here. The health benefits in particular are fantastic. E.g., unlimited mental health services. (Not unlimited as in free, but.. as far as I can tell there's no limit on psychiatrist visits or therapy.)

Ironically, this is kind of stressful for me (thinking about settling in to a new role potentially). I think I've gotten used to my current situation. :)

I suppose all change is like that.

I had a breakthrough today. I was getting really stressed out by the fact that I was going back into anxious mode over this, and I wasn't being peaceful and enjoying the day to day stuff like I was the past couple of days.

Then I realized I was creating a positive feedback loop, and it's silly to stress out about being anxious, and I decided to think of it as just a physical symptom, and I chilled out pretty fast at that point.

I want to hold on to enjoying being in the moment and not go back to constantly thinking about the past and the future and being in survival mode. The paradox is that I have to stop caring whether that happens for it to happen. :)

Heh, anyway. This is not to say that I won't do my best with this potential opportunity! To the contrary, I think being calmer will help me with it.

Meeting went really well. Seems likely that I'll end up working for her. (again, not guaranteed, but it seems like she really wants to hire me and what i've heard of the position sounds really great so far -- she does have to juggle some stuff related to the requisition)

Another interesting thing--she used to really intimidate me. It wasn't anything I could point to, I just got a really bad vibe from her. I don't get the vibe any more and I don't feel scared, same as with my dad and with another boss I had that issue with. I think EMDR is responsible for all those improvements. That was my main reservation going into this--I didn't want a boss who would stress me out horribly. But no, I felt completely calm and natural.

She said that I did a really good job previously and that she's glad I eventually got a promotion (earlier this year).
