a bit late but weighed in today at 167.

but like a fool I baked choc chip cookies today LOL.

what I am finding hard is getting enough fat into the day - may be if I switched to say reduced fat s/cream instead of f/free... I can't keep pb in the house due to dd's allergies, everything else is ok although the carbs are always at the upper end of the limit.

The trick for me was finding foods within my daily caloric allowance that filled me up.

For me this has been key. A whole jar of the salsa I like runs about 250 calories, and let's face it fills me pretty well.

There's more than that in some little debbie cakes and really I could eat a box and not even put a dent in my hunger, well back in the old days anyway.

More filling things with less calories help me to maintain portion control at the same time.

PS. Glad this thread was started.

Music makes my workouts so much better. What is on your workout playlist? Mine includes:
No Surprise - Daughtry
Paparazzi - Lady GaGa
Second Chance – Shinedown
Poker Face - Lady Gaga
I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho) – Pitbull
Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis

You are not a bad person for sleeping in - it's ok to rest the body - can you get a few minutes of something in - later in the day - even if just sit ups??

I've been able to get the workouts in - 5 days last week and I'm on day 4 today -
Now, if I can get better control of my food intake - cut back so far - but, definitely need to get stricter.

Pants feel a little better - must be toning.

I just found this thread today.......hope I'm not too late! I have never, ever exercised in my whole life. But I just joined a gym and paid for a trainer to show me how everything works. I have gone every nite since the 12th and have never been sore. I actually enjoy it........once I get there! I am trying to do the obvious...take in less calories than I burn. Easier said than done. I am hungry all the time! Anyway, I am 51 years old and I'm 5'7-1/2 and weigh 186. I want to lose at least 30 pounds. Good luck to all of us!!

Ooh, hopefully this keeps me from eating the rest of the chocolate bar I just opened.

I am down 5 pounds (after putting on 10 in the last year) so far this month. I'm struggling to stay awake from the 5:30 am work out....

I am so bummed. I am up a pound since I weight in 2 weeks ago. I just hope it is muscle. It is depressing because I have been pretty good with my eating and not eating bad stuff for the most part.

I have to get motivated and do more than 2 workouts a week but I have been feeling so blahhh and tired. Darn winter SADD crap.

WTG everyone. I am impressed by all of you who are getting in 4 and 5 workouts a week. That is great.

I am up a pound since I weight in 2 weeks ago. I just hope it is muscle. It is depressing because I have been pretty good with my eating and not eating bad stuff for the most part.

I have been exercising for a long time - I started to help cope with a breakup in college, lost 30 lbs, and have used it to get through a lot of stress since then.

Don't worry too much about a pound one way or the other... it will happen. Focus on other measures, like your waist measurement or how your clothes are fitting. The will often tell you more.

If nobody has mentioned it a really good site for creating and logging your exercise is dailyburn.com ... it's free and they both have exercise programs (and groups) and lots of tools for planning / logging your exercise. I've found that keeping records both motivates me (to continue logging more days with exercise) and helps me know that I'm making progress regardless of what the scale says.

I would also encourage folks to look at signing up for an event, like a 5K or 10K or half-marathon. (You don't have to run the whole thing - lots of folks start with "run-walk" method where you take breaks.) Pick one that's 3 or 4 months away, and have a friend that runs help you set up a gradual program to train for it week by week. It gives you something to look forward to and that you have total control over... and it feels great to run a distance that only a few months before you never would have imagined completing.

Found this gem on cnn.com last night. How is that for motivation to lose weight?

I can totally see how those things can happen. Nasty but true.

Hey! Isn't it "accountability Tuesday"? I'll go first...not that I'm happy about it but...I'm up a half pound and only exercised twice last week!

Here's to doing better this coming week!

Lost some weight due to D-day#3 diet plan...you know the one. But, then decided that maybe fWH would think twice about losing what he had @home, if I took better care of myself. Over the past few years (maybe 13 years actually, when I had DS13), I'd ballooned up to 205 lbs by fall 2008.

I finally started working out & watching my portion control & snacking.

Workouts started w/YourSelf! Fitness game for Xbox. I was pretty out-of-shape, so I did 15min/day (5-7 days/week). Within weeks, I noticed a big difference in my knees (which would give-out sometimes). I tried to cut my portions in 1/2 (if I wanted 2 pork chops, I ate only one...if I wanted 2 rolls, I ate 1).

fWH had promised that if I lost 20 lbs (to attempt to quit snoring), then he'd quit dipping Skoal. Well, I lost the 20 & he didn't quit. He tried, but failed. He started smoking cigars & pipe for a while, but it didn't work.

So, my total weight loss was 35 lbs. YooHooo! I dropped from a size 18WP to a 12P (sometimes even juniors 13short).

Here's my problem. Thanksgiving & after caused my weight to fluctuate. Some weeks I am tired, don't want to exercise (usually do 30 minutes w/Maya on YourSelf! Fitness Xbox, or 1 hour on recumbent bike). I try not to skip >2 days each week....but, the motivation isn't there. I do better exercising in morning, but who really wants to get up @4:45 a.m. to squeeze in exercise before getting the kids ready & myself? Then, if I wait until after homework @night, I am so worn out that I cannot lift the 10 lb hand weights or do the directional lunges (hate Maya when she says Squat-Lunge).

I keep bouncing from 173 to 176, 174, 175...etc.

I need motivation. Last year, I was motivated because I had to see OW @basketball games for OC each week & I was determined that if I couldn't be prettier, then I'd have a smokin' body instead (she's significantly overweight, but has a beautiful face & huge melons). I still see her @games this year, but I get really upset if I cannot maintain my weight b4 the weekend game.

I am craving chocolate like crazy...not just for PMS either. Is it the bitter cold weather?

Yesterday's weigh in: 174 lbs.
38% body fat

I want to be @170 lbs & where my 12&13 jeans fit comfortably w/out a muffin-top hanging over them.

BTW: my knees no longer have issues w/my weight, I don't heave & pant when I carry in groceries, & I can be intimate for extended periods of time without being pooped out. Even the 30-35 lbs, did make a big difference in my health. Unfortunately, I still snore like a freight train....something both fWH & I had hoped would stop w/the weight loss. Oh, and my stomach is no longer in-the-way of getting close & personal w/my hubby (looked about 12 months pregnant b4).

Today's workout @5:15 a.m. - 30 minutes w/Maya (my Xbox trainer)...main goal (lower body strength)/today's goal (core body strength). I'm seriouslly thinking of splurging on MyFitnessCoach on the Wii (it's an updated version of the same game w/Maya, but it adds Kickboxing & some body measurements to the game features).

Hi! New to this thread but I joined Scale back Alabama program yesterday. I was actually pretty pleased with my weight b/c I had weighed in higer at a dr. visit back in November and I had lost some weight already.

My biggest problem is that I am an emotional eater. When I went through my divorce I was at a good size and especially after having my son but going through all that stress I turned to food.

Then there was nursing school so that added another type of stress.

But the worse type of stress was with my mother being sick with cancer. Since her passing I have put on a little more weight and I know that it is not healthy for me.
