I will be weighed this afternoon, but I know I will be up by about 1.5 pounds.
It's likely all muscle gain since I have not changed my eating at all and I have worked out 4 days a week for the past two weeks with heavy weights.

Thanks t2g... I read a few posts over there and I get the whole on plan 100%, etc. etc. They are a little harsh though.....If I keep all my calories and check the lowest carb option possible, do you think one drink on a special occassion is gonna kill me? it doesn't matter where you go in life ,it's who you have the beside you Posts: 8493 | Registered: Jul 2008 |

No, not unless you run into a tree! But why have one? Once you do that your mind will try and justify "just two" and before you know it the alcohol logic takes over and you have five or six.
For me I go with zero. That way I can reach my goal sooner and start the next phase of my diet which will permit a single drink per week.
With the start of this diet I gave up diet pop, alcohol and any form of sleep aid -- all of which I was getting too attached or used to.
My form of a treat on this diet is grilled large Tiger prawns dipped in a little cocktail sauce or some turkey bacon.

I know. I do have a plan though....One slow gin fizz an then club soda with a twist of lime. I can easily stop myself at one. If I didn't have self control with alcohol I wouldn't even have one. Way to go everyone!!!
I'm down 4 lbs...which I guess is pretty good since it's only been 2 weeks.
I've also stayed committed to the 6 days each week at the gym and I am starting to notice a difference. Not so much in my appearance but definitely in my strength and endurance. Okay, Ive changed my eating habits. Ive gone healthy. Knocked out the processed flour, sugars, etc. I eat mostly lean protien and fruits and veggies as well as grains. IF I do have "bread" it's whole wheat or whole grain.
I take my food to work.
I no longer go across the street for coffee. I have one cup in the morning (with powdered milk and agave syrup or stivia).
Ive lost less than one pound.
This is totally nuts.
Yes, I am hypothyroid. Yes, I have pcos. I am taking the pills. Im guessing armour was more effective. I should be down at least six pounds by now just from the change of eating.
Totally depressed. Posts: 7847 | Registered: Sep 2007 |

sully - are you watching your portion size? While it's great to eat healthy, losing weight requires taking in fewer calories than you need.
If you want to I can send you the short version of how the WW plan works so you can follow it yourself. It's not hard. A billion flies can't be wrong - shit tastes good! Posts: 2366 | Registered: Nov 2005 | From: Midatlantic |

Thank you bpositive and skylars mom...
I was on the msg board for eat clean last night and they pooh-poohed my boca burger and turkey bacon (too much chemicals and sodium). Maybe I DO need to up my water intake. They also said I wasn't eating enough. I have never been the one to eat large portions. I do better eating smaller portions and more often. When I was in the hospital I was red flagged often because they insisted I wasn't eating enough and I was sooo stuffed I thought I was going to explode! I had to beg for less food.
I follow the palm/playing card size for food. I am liberal with my veggie servings bc I don't add anything to them except adobo (latino herb seasoning) or nothing at all.
The problem may be my thyroid. Im no longer on my beloved armour (bc those fools changed the formula and the grandfather law they fell under was ripped away at that point). I think I may have to use a compound pharmacy.
Im not going to give up.
Eat Clean Diet is similar to WW, but no chemical foods. Im going to keep at it hoping maybe something will break. It's just depressing. Im also going to purchase Mary Shamon's book about thyroid problems and eating this Friday. Hopefully something will kick in. It's just depressing.
In the meantime, I will up my water and tea intake. Posts: 7847 | Registered: Sep 2007 |

I had a reply to the msg board on "eatcleandiet.com". I thought Id post it here in case it could be of use to anyone. I am also hypothyroid so have issue with soy, so need to get back to the person who sent it to me. I was told by others people with pcos have problems with weight loss then add in the hypothyroidism...Im in a tight spot.
Amyway, I am going to try this in hopes it will work. Wish me luck.
*Cooler 1 should be followed for a maximum of 2 weeks at a time.
*Eat your last meal at 6 pm or 4 hours before bed.
WHAT IT IS:
Please note that this is the strictest of the cooler plans and will not be easy for some of you. There is very little room for indulgence and you may feel foggy due to lack of complex carbs. If it is too much, you can add more complex carbs (yam, apple, brown rice) to one of your early meals. But hardcore eating promises results, and that is what you will get!
COMPLEX CARBS FROM FRUIT:
1 apple or pear per day (1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the afternoon or evening)
COMPLEX CARBS FROM VEGGIES:
2 cupped handfuls eaten 5 timesa a day of non-starchy, high water content, low Glycemic index veggies (raw or steamed)
COMPLEX CARBS FROM GRAINS & STARCHY CARBS:
1 handful a day of cooked brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, millet
Top with-
2 to 4 tbs. ground flaxseed
2 to 4 tbs. bee pollen
1 handsized s. potato or yam (1/2 in the a.m. and 1/2 in the afternoon or evening)
LEAN PROTEIN:
1 palm sized serving 5 times a day- chicken, tuna, egg whites, bison, elk, turkey, non oily fish
You can substitute sugar/chemical free protein powder for any protein serving
BEVERAGES:
1 gallon a day of distilled water, fresh water with no sodium, clear unsweetened herbal tea
AVOID:
*dairy
*juice
*bread
*salad dressing-except lemonn juice and balsamic vinegar
*spreads- butter, mayo, etc
*high sodium foods

1/2 gallon of water a day is more than enough. In fact.. even that is on the high side.
Distilled water? What you get from a tap is good enough. Filter it if you like.
The diet is too low on essential fatty acids. They are "essential" for a reason.
For people looking to avoid loose skin they are a MUST.
Stick to good fats like avacados and nuts.
The key to success in any weight loss plan is to NOT be miserable. If that means a little dairy or a creamy low fat salad dressing (in moderation) then go for it.

Weight update:
Was really tired Saturday, but did 1 hr on recumbent bike. Calories used was much less than normal on bike (set on weight loss setting). Only expended about 364 calories.
Major housecleaning pooped me out Sunday (cleaned boys' room & moved around beds) for about 5 hours. Cleaned living room carpet Friday night, before our water pressure went down to nothing (storm related?). Surely I expended some calories there.
Weighed in this morning: 175.2, 39% fat [scale put me in the obese catagory today ].
Exercised 30 min on YourSelf! Fitness (main focus weight loss/2nd focus core strength). My abs hurt after 45 bicycles, 36 side crunches on each side, plie bicep curls w/10 lb weights, plie upright rows w/weights, & a bunch of cardio stuff (jumping jacks/heel jacks/etc). Even after all that, she said I only used about 135 calories. Me/BS:39(former cybersex addict 1992); fWH:41; DS:15; DS:11; OW:34; OC:10
