I am. A minor setback with more medication for three weeks, but seem to be on track to drop a few more soon!

Hey guys, I'm hopping on the healthy train.

Just joined up at myfitnesspal.com to keep a log of my calories. I've learned more about weight loss from reading their forums in 2 hrs than I've known for my whole life. Scary, eh?

I'm going to go from 230 lbs to 180 lbs, with the goal of losing 1.5 pounds per week. I expect to gain a little wait before I lose any, since I know that I haven't been getting my daily caloric requirements. Gotta up the calories to get the metabolism going again. That's scary, too.

And one more scary thing. I just found out how calorie-loaded cheese is. Yikes! I didn't realise it but I usually have 4-5 servings of cheese in a sitting! One sitting! That's like 350-450 calories along, not to mention the crackers. Wow. They should teach this stuff in high school. Alternatively, I should have paid attention in health class.

I missed the start of this thread so I never posted but would read every week to see how everyone was doing.

I did start eating better and exercising on January 25. I am down 11 lbs so far! I weigh-in on Mondays. I will start posting my results on here on Tuesdays though.

My goal is to lose around 5lbs a month (60lbs by January 25, 2011).

ManAscending, I know what you mean. I'm a BIG cheese eater too. I finally started buying reduced fat or low fat (when I can find it) cheeses. They taste the same as regular to me. Try them!

I also record my daily calories and water in a book I got for free from the Discovery Channel Fitness challenge they do every year. It only has 3months in it but it's a start. I figure I will buy a new one from the bookstore after I fill up this one.

Good luck everybody!

I'm new to this thread as well.

I started the South Beach Diet two weeks ago and am just finishing up Phase I (the sugar detox phase).

So far, I've lost 5.5 pounds.

I've been exercising about 3 times a week, which I'd like to kick up to 4-5.

It feels good to be treating my body well again, after a year of emotional eating.

Gerrygirl and I are still on the P90X train - 40 days now. Not seeing too much weight loss, but our clothes are fitting differently and we are seeing a difference in the mirror. We are picking up the real DVD set today so we will finally have all the books with the nutrition plan. Hopefully we will be able to follow that and start dropping some pounds instead of just moving it around.

Ok, an update here. I've been using Wii Fit Plus for about four solid weeks now (five days per week, minimum 20 minutes per day). To date, it's only held my weight - I haven't been able to take any more off. Kinda where I've been for a while. Stuck at a level and unable to make progress.

So I picked up a copy of EA Sports Active for the Wii. Tested it over the weekend and OMG! Felt the impact more than anything else yet! Did day one of their 30 day plan today and somehow managed to burn 150 calories. I hate the running segments, the rest I'm ok on. Hopefully it will get a little easier with time.

Also working with trying to find way to keep the leg band in place better. It tends to either slide off or feel like it's cutting off leg circulation. Found a close balance today, but may still have to play with it a bit more to perfect it.

I may as well check-in today because tomorrow won't make much difference.

I'm UP 2 lbs. I'm not shocked though. I new it wasn't gonna be pretty because I was eating bad all week. I'm back on track today though.

wow, t2go...you've done GREAT on Medifast!

I'm thinking about doing it too..I think it would give me the jumpstart that I need.

What did you find easiest about the plan? What was the most difficult? Was any of those things really yucky?

Day 2 on EA Sports Active. Another 181 calories burned. I'm not enjoying the running segments but EA does a great job breaking up the higher impact cardio stuff with the body toning and training exercises like bicep curls, lunges and squats. Even mix in some sports activities like tennis, boxing, basketball and volleyball.

20 minutes tends to go by pretty quickly. So far, I'm feeling it's impact but in a good way.

For the person asking - P90X is very intense and a friend of mine who is in good shape (jogs/runs constantly) couldn't even make it past the first DVD - she only got half-way through. This program is pretty much for people in good shape who might not have the just-out-of-boot-camp type of body definition they might want. It's very exepnsive, and it is very intenst. There are requirements, like a minimum vertical jump and a number of push ups/pull ups you need to already be able to do before starting the program.

If you're not someone who already has a super athletic stamina, you'll most likely hurt yourself trying this right out. Once you've made some progress and are ready to go through drill-instructor-like training for fast, ripped results in a few months, then it might be fore you, but if you're like me and can't do more than 30-45 minutes of sustained activity without being wiped out, then you might need some time before embarking on this.

I'd just pick an assortment of cardio/weight training things you can do at home - exercise bike, jogging, roller-blading to build up your metabolism, while alternating with a rep-till-fail program of push-ups, sit ups and weights (soup cans or water bottles actually are heavier than you realize if you're not already used to heavy weights) - you do as many reps as it takes till you "fail", till you can't do it properly anymore, then you stretch and move on to next exercise. All of this, combined with good eating, not necessarily dieting, will help :)

I'm trying to lose lbs I gained from a medication switch - yuck. At least it's coming off - just slowly.

Medifast week #15 equals -1.6 pounds. I am down 47.6 pounds total since 12/16/09.

What did you find easiest about the plan?

Portion controlmeals.

What was the most difficult?

Remembering to eat when I am supposed to.

Was any of those things really yucky?

I like everything they have - brownies, puffs and chocolate mint bars being my favorite.

Week #16 weigh-in is tomorrow.

-t2g ☺

PS - I was told today by a co-worker that he almost did not recognize me. Another told me yesterday that I was really getting thin.

Today I'm down 2.8lbs so I'm back on track. Yay!!!

Last week I think I was retaining water due to too much salt. I really have to watch my sodium or I swell like a balloon.

Changes in water retention are a pain. I was up after march break even though I ate well I had been eating at many restaurants. (lots of salt) I was up by as much as 4 pounds.

However, after a few days I noticed I was shedding far more water than I was taking in. I lost those 4 additional pounds within a couple of days and still went down an additional 2 for my weigh-in.

Now officially down 75.

I don't know how I'm doing it, but I suspect I'm overeating. I've gained so much, that I'm heavier than I have been in 1 year.

I weighed in & I'm at 179!!! Oh god. My pants are getting tight & I feel like my hands are retaining fluids.

I feel so hungry lately.

I started a new fitness game on the kids' Wii. It's almost identical to my YourSelfFitness on Xbox. It's call My Fitness Coach. I don't like it. Graphics are worse than Xbox's, she hides my countdown after beginning of each exercise. She doesn't display the #reps I need to do, so I have to listen very carefully. She gives me hardly any breaktime btwn sets & not really any cooldown @end. The only different potentially goo thing is, that she took measurements of my body parts (hips, waist, thighs, biceps). When I reach 10 workouts, she should reevaluate my #s. Her calories burnt on Wii game, seem much less than those burnt on Xbox game.

Yesterday, I could only fit in 15min in morning of exercise. This morning I said screw it & rode the exercise bike (425 calories burnt).

I would like to do P90x, but I am chicken & afraid of knee pain.

Medifast week #17 & 18 combined as I was very sick last week (food poisoning)equals -1.8 pounds. As I ate or held down little if anything I would have thought I would have lost more, but alas I did not.

I am down 50.6 pounds total since 12/16/09.

How is everyone else doing?
