The good news is the cardiologist will make me exercise and lose this weight. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Of course it helps to know you *have* enemies. Posts: 2887 | Registered: Nov 2004 | From: Florida |

Exercise is tough for me too right now. The little one is just coming off his sickness from last week, but he is still on a lot more medications and stuff and I have been too tired to get back up at 5am to work out. I need to just convince my half-awake self to just get it started and then I'd feel the energy, but I am not conscious enough to have that thought then. My diet is going very well though, I am having an easier time than I thought staying away from bad stuff. I feel thinner already. BW,31

That is good news. A big motivator for me is that both of my parents had heart attacks within a month of each other about a year ago. I am not hugely overweight, but I have a "baby belly" from my last pregnancy (6 years ago ) and abdominal fat is the most dangerous type to carry around for your heart. Snapped me out of my comfort zone and inspired me/scared me into losing the excess. Let it motivate you, it feels great to see it finally start coming off! BW,31

I wonder if it's better to join a gym or get a treadmill. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Of course it helps to know you *have* enemies. Posts: 2887 | Registered: Nov 2004 | From: Florida |

I have a zumba dvd that I use at home. The only time I can work exercise into my schedule is at 5am while the boys are sleeping, before work/school and between feedings/medications, so that is all I can do is home stuff. Gym is definitely out. BW,31

Zumba looks like fun, but I lose interest in DVDs after the first 6 or 7 times. I don't have much room right in front of the tv either. LOL.
My sister has a yoga dvd and she laughs that in some of the exercises she can't look up to see what they are doing.
You have lots of willpower to exercise while the babes are asleep. That's when I wanted to sleep, too!

Not so much willpower as I would like. Since he has been sick and on a much more rigorous schedule for feedings and meds as well as extra nebulizer treatments, I've been skipping the 5am workouts altogether out of sheer exhaustion. I need to do it anyway though, I am excited to get closer to my goal. BW,31

You guys are all awesome! You inspire me to work harder.
Good luck to you wantmore-I hope everything is ok.
I take a zumba class at our local class and it is so fun. Our instructor is this real Southern cowboy type gal. She is so fun. Let me tell you, it's a real change for us New Yorkers!
I wish there were some way to speed up my weight loss. It kinda sucks that I have an extra fifteen lbs to lose now that i gained after Dday. I keep telling WH how unfair it is that he made me gain so much weight now I have to diet. Me: 24 BS

Hey everyone! Checking in here.
I am not sure how much weight I've lost, but I am noticing a big difference in the way my pants fit, my waist, and just how I feel in my clothes.
I think I am down like 5-6 lbs, which isn't much, but I'm up to 30 minutes on the elliptical, and I feel good about it.
I wanted to remind people about ON DEMAND - if you have Comcast cable. There are a lot of different workouts on there, so you can pick 1 or more that work, target different areas, and find one that is right for you.
Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing. Use the pain as fuel, as a reminder of your strength

Adding to ssm's idea, if you have netflix, you can stream some workout videos that way too.
Woohoo, ssm, on getting up to 30 minutes on the elliptical. I call mine the machine o' death. I feel good if I can do 10 minutes on it. It's going to take me a while to get up to 30 minutes. Live your dreams...the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

I'm going to my first Zumba class at the Y tomorrow night...and I am scared! I don't know any of the moves, and though I'm going with a friend I'm really self conscious.
Is it hard to "get"? I mean, I guess I'm hoping I won't look like I'm completely out of control there. Posts: 2292 | Registered: Feb 2011 | From: NWPA |

If you're not too coordinated, it can be hard to "get" it...but the important thing to remember is just to get out there and have fun. If you're having fun, it'll just come to you. And also remember that many people are probably feeling the same way you are. Good luck and enjoy!
Jessy - did you try on the dress yet? I did last week...and I only needed like an inch to 1/2 more for it to zip up all the way! When I first got it, no lie, it was like a 6" gap to zip. Buuuuut, that was last week before Valentine's weekend. So ummm, it's crunch time. The wedding is the 27th. The weight is starting to come off! I don't weigh myself except at the doctor's office, but I can tell it is and I feel skinny again, if that makes sense. I am fabulous! Just imagine where I will be in May. I feel like I will be completely new and improved by my Ireland trip next Feb. [This message edited by JessicaFL127 at 9:23 AM, February 17th (Thursday)] BW,31

From what I have read/heard from docs, they recommend a minimum of 3 days a week, 30 minutes at a time, cardio--then if you are doing strength training, do it opposite of cardio days, also for 30 minutes at a time. Posts: 2292 | Registered: Feb 2011 | From: NWPA |

I get a email tips from Self magazine and today's fitness tip is about picking the best exercises for the type of butt you have. Thought it might be useful so I'm passing it along. http://www.self.com/fitness/workouts/2010/02/get-your-best-butt-ever?mbid=enws_mow0217 Live your dreams...the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
