Good news, I finally lost some weight. Yay!!!!
Neutral news: I finally bought some scales for my house so I can no longer use the "different scales and different shoes" excuse.
Bad news: I cannot do even ONE squat. The guy at the gym giving me my introductory training session was nice about it, but still made me attempt it. He put a stool under my butt so I could fall the last couple of inches, but there was just no getting up straight. Today, 2 days later, the fronts of my thighs hurt so bad I HAVE to use the arms of the chairs to get out of them. I have to go back and do it again???? Seriously, I couldn't even get up from the toilet. I know, TMI.
I knew there was a reason I didn't have scales in the house. And the reason is I would hop up on them more than once a day.
I now slide them under the dresser so I won't be reminded they are there. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Of course it helps to know you *have* enemies. Posts: 2887 | Registered: Nov 2004 | From: Florida |

hey guys i have been trying to lose weight too and make myself feel better about myself and eventually more attractive to women ...
about ten years ago i had an accident where i had a spinal cord injury and it has taken me until recently to finally be normal and able to be active.
the problem is that now i weight 340 pounds (that's actually after i lost 25 or so pounds with the heart break diet) i am 6 foot 2 so i am not a whale but i am still a big guy.
i want to be more active and to do this i have given up gaming and drinking .. the problem is that i have to build myself back up from the foundation to have the stamina to be more active. i have been working out almost a week every morning for 40-50 minutes.
i got a game for the xbox kinect called your shape: fitness evolved and have been doing it every morning. i have to start at the lowest level but i already feel better more energy and my depression has been getting better. it's going to take a long time to lose the hundred maybe hundred and twenty pounds i need to get to a healthy weight that is also appealing to others but i am in for the long haul and i want to be strong of body and mind. wantmore, squats are just evil. No exercise should make it that hard to sit on the toilet.
Hey 13yrs, welcome to the thread. It sounds like you're making a great start. Does the kinect have funny little avatars like the wii-mii? Live your dreams...the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

Wantmore, I can identify with the feeling of what squats did to you. About a year ago I bought a Jillian Michaels dvd for workout. It was a 20 minute workout which was supposed to shred you body. Boy did it shred my body!! I couldn't move for days. I didn't even bother stretching before I started such an intense workout, after months of being Ms. couch potato.
(I can own up to it now, since at this point I can easily do 1 1/2 hours of heavy exercising. Yay me! [not that I'm doing it.])
But I will join my zumba class tomorrow morning. Hopefully that will help me kick my sugar habits. Me: 24 BS

inconnu,
the xbox it self has avatars and yes the kinect does use them in some games. but the one i use actually puts "you" on the screen and tracks your movements and tries to correct your movements.
it has cardio, toning, free weight training, cardio boxing, tai chi, and i'm sure theres more i haven't seen yet Live for the future I know its your prerogative but when you just live for the past you become a part of it. Posts: 233 | Registered: Feb 2011 | From: NC |

Yay wantmore! Congrats! It's so awesome when you start seeing lbs coming off.
Welcome 13years! It's great to have a support system like we do here, so just keep checking in!
I'm back on track this week. Totally fell off the wagon after the wedding, but I think I have things under control now. I did hit the gym Saturday morning and did a kickboxing class and sauna time. Planning on hitting it up again tonight.

man i tell you i am tired of being sore for the past week every thing on me had been sore ... i'm not sore when i'm exercising or when i'm active but if i sit down for awhile my muscles seem to just get so sore ... does this go away or do i have to get used to this? It should mostly go away, but you get used to it, too. It's a good sign at this point, really. It means you're working your muscles. Live your dreams...the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.

yeah the game i bought so far has seemed to be worth the 50+tax i paid for it.
it's also from the fact that i strap on 5 pound weights to each leg and use 5 pound barbells in each hand as i'm doing the exercises Live for the future I know its your prerogative but when you just live for the past you become a part of it. Posts: 233 | Registered: Feb 2011 | From: NC |

Anybody like the "Walk Away the Pounds" DVDs w/ Leslie Sansone?
I really like them, when I feel like doing them
I'd like to try someone else for in-home walking, just to switch things up a bit. Anyone know of other walk-type DVDS? BS-33

I used those, E.Nikki. Loved them but I had borrowed them so I had to give them back.
How's everyone doing?
I havent checked in lately so i thought I come see.
I'm down about 17lbs since MLK day, so, roughly halfway to my goal. Slow but sure.

E. Nikki,
I love the Leslie Sansone walks!
In early 2009 I lost 25 lbs in 3 months doing those.
Then I went to the US for the summer and stopped doing them. And gained back about 15 lbs.
I just started back up about 3 weeks ago. However, I'm ready to throw my scale out the window.
I've not lost a single pound, but I have lost an inch and a half off my waist and I can see my collar bones again. Also, I have been able to tighten my belt two notches since V'Day.
H keeps telling me I'm 'slimming down'. I guess that's what counts. But it would be nice to see the scales show a loss already.
I have about a dozen Leslie walks and I change them up every so often. I just bought the 'bootcamp' one at Christmas. I love it, love it, love it!
I know Prevention Magazine has some walk off weight (WOW) videos as well, but when I read the description, they seemed pretty much like Leslie's. She always makes me smile and I feel great after walking with her, so I feel like I have a good thing going. DD: 2/10/02

Haven't posted in awhile.
Lost 15% body fat and not one freaking pound.
Need to figure out a way to shed a few pounds so I can fit back into my favorite shoes.

I slipped a bit on the die...er, lifestyle change. It's so much easier for me to reach for some carb loaded snack than it is to find something with more protein. It sure didn't help that I went out for Mexican one night last week, and couldn't resist the chips.
But I got back on track, and even with the slip-ups I've been making sure I'm eating a lot more protein than I used to and I still lost a little more than a pound this past week. So I'm right under 3 lbs lost in 2 weeks.

be strong sister .. you can do this ... just try once that's it once and see how good it makes you feel to do something positive. if your embarrassed about going to the gym then use the wii they have fitness games for it and i myself use a fitness game to work out (for xbox not wii)
the best revenge is looking good (or is it living good? well both are good revenge ) exercising raises serotonin levels and helps to feel better.
i have faith in you i know that you can do this. post regularly and i'll keep trying to pep you up.

13years,
My dad used to get really bad charlie horses and his Dr. told him it could be a result of not having enough potassium in his system. He started taking a potassium suppliment and eating a banana every night before bed. It helped.
It may be worth looking into. DD: 2/10/02
