letting_go...if your body fat % is going down, then that in itself is a great thing! 1 lb of muscle takes up about 20% less than 1 lb of fat.

So even if the number on the scale doesn't change, remember that your body can still be changing...and things might be "shifting" in the right direction. Just something to keep in mind.

I haven't read everything on here so forgive me if I am talking about something that has already been posted...lol.

I just downloaded an app on my droid called 'calorie counter'. It is amazing!

It has a food diary and has so many foods already listed and it's got this nifty thing where you just scan a barcode and it automatically inputs the information for you!

I have a question about calorie needs.
I have gone to four different calorie calculators to figure out what the best number of calories for me would be to lose weight and I am getting what I think is an ungodly high number of 2300 calories a day!
I have never in my life eaten that many calories.
Yesterday I ended at 1524 calories and thought I was going to die.

My mother has long told me that I don't eat enough for my body to lose weight but I have been so beaten down over the years thinking that I had to stave myself and I have a metabolic disorder that makes it difficult also.

What is a good amount of calories for a person to consume?

For me to lose weight I have to eat around 1,000 cals a day. Very high protein, very low carb. If I happen to have dairy or a grain I gain water weight quickly.

I lost 50 pounds in 18 months on WW then an additonal 70 pounds in 7 months on Medifast and met my goal last August. I still eat around 1,000 cals a day unless I am having a treat day. I follow the Stillman plan when I need to drop a few water pounds.

I do walk regularly as much as I can and 30 minutes light weights 3 times a week.

I had an eating disorder when I was younger and probably really messed up my metabolism, so if I go too low on the calories, I hit "starvation mode" really easily.

I'm still figuring things out, but eating more protein, and cutting out much of the processed carbs is how I'm losing weight now. I'm not counting calories at all. Okay, I'm trying really hard to not pay attention to the calorie count. It's hard to break old habits.

There was a thread in OT that Inner Light started several days ago, with a link to some videos explaining some dietary myths. It was really interesting, and goes with what I've been reading and trying to follow for my diet now.

13years, also make sure you're drinking enough water/fluids. Muscle cramping can be a sign of dehydration.

NA, I love the Calorie Counter app on my droid. I sync it to my FatSecret account. It's really helping me.

Especially since I'm actually losing now.

My latest thing is an exercise ball for a desk chair at home. I may have to work up to this because I've been on this for 30 minutes now and my front and back are tired. Good job, ball.

I hit the 20lbs loss milestone yesterday.
I'm now officially down to the lowest weight (as an adult not a teen).
I want to go down 10 more and then stop.

My original goal was 113, but I think I already look rather thin, just a few bumps to flatten out, so I dont want to go that low anymore. (Am at 135.2 now).

Hoping to reach my goal by the time I test for my black belt in karate (April 16).

Congrats BrokenRoad! That's a tremendous accomplishment. I fell off the wagon a bit (if I was ever truly on it), but I am now starting the couch-to-5K program and hope to run a 5K in May. I thought the program looked really simple at the beginning - like it would be too easy for me - but it is kicking my tuckus. I am down three pounds though. It's a start. I'd like to lose 8 to 10 more.

Getting caught up here. Great job everyone!!!

I got down in the 120s as of yesterday, so I'm excited. I was stuck at like 133 for a while. My goal would ideally be 122 or so - with being toned. I am 5'3" and petite frame. BR - what is your height and frame? 113 sounds really really low for most grown women.

Everyone is doing so awesome!!

Ok guys, I'm planning on doing another round of the Martha's Vineyard Detox, which I last did back in September (as a bday gift to myself!). The detox itself is 21 days...but there is also a "transition" phase after it, which lasts about 10 days I believe. I just wanted to know if anyone else was interested in jumping on board and joining me in this experience. I'm looking in to starting April 1st...or possible April 4th (aft...er the weekend).

It is NOT easy...and the first week is, by far, the hardest. But the end results of feeling absolutely "cleansed" and amazing are well worth the sacrifice. (Note: it is an all veggie liquid detox with some supplements). I should also point out that you can still "detox" without losing the weight (as some people really just want to rid their body of toxins without necessarily needing to lose weight. In that case, I believe you incorporate protein shakes as well.

Here's the FB if you wanna take a look: http://www.facebook.com/21poundsin21daysfanpage

Lmk if anyone is in...and if not, at least you can be rooting for me :) I have 3 friends doing it with me so far

You're thinking that you look ultra fabulous (cause you do!)...and buying a bikini is always motivation...I bought one too...along with a dress that doesn't fit so I can motivate myself to make the darn thing fit, damnit!

Heading back to the gym today (got my gear in the car so I have no excuse after work). Back on the wagon and ready to look smokin hot for summer!

How's everyone doing?
