Hi Exit Wounds!

Wow $40 sounds like a lot to me! I work in health care and many of the docs recommend it for weight loss, but I am not sure I would be willing to pony up that much. I have heard other docs who recommended the South Beach diet too, my doctor lost a good bit of weight on that one.

For me, as I said before, Darden's book has been my mantra. Good luck everyone!

Good luck to all of us for keeping our healthy habits during the holidays....We will be so much happier New Years morning without a gain on the scale....

I started eating healthy again and exercising. I need to work on my willpower. I'm trying to lose 19 lbs, but I'd be happy with 14.

Darn potato chips are my weakness.

Shattered! Thanks for the info...yes, $40 a month is too steep. I have to quit w/ them. Really I attended and wasn't too thrilled. It's like one meeting and you have the facts from there the meetings are just support and I get that for free here at SI

Wow! I am happy to have found this topic. I to have had major weight issues for the last 15 yrs, weighting almost 190, at 4'11". I became disgusted in what i looked liked. My h was very unattracted to me. Brought on extreme low self esteem issues and much more.Have done several diet plans. Such as Atkins, Southbeach an HCG diet drops. Recently as May 2011, with many thanks t my h, I have taken my life back with a calorie counting diet by myfitnesspal.com. It is a portion control calorie counting (1200 cal/day). Ive successfully lost over 40lbs. My goal is to lose 20 more

I like myfitnesspal.com too. When I use it. Sigh. I logged in today, and got a lovely reminder that it had been over 3 months since the last time I logged in. Sigh.

Anyway, I use it more as a food journal and way to track how much protein I'm eating, as opposed to a strict calorie counter. When I'm eating right for me, it seems like I naturally fall into the the calorie range on myfitnesspal. When I have too many carbs and don't get enough protein though...well, that's another story, and not a very pretty one at that.

Well, by Thanksgiving, I had gone from 225 to 185. I am 5'4" tall. I was feeling good about myself.

Can you believe, NO ONE noticed. Not one. I didn't tell any one either. I got so depressed that I am back up to 220 now and am going to start all over again.

I have decided that I have blind family members and to heck with them. If they can't notice that I lost 20% of my body weight, forget about them.

Good luck every one in their plan of choice.

Hello to all...

Innocu, thank you for replying about the carbs. I hear you all the way. I purchased a small home weight scale and place a plate on it then add my carbs (spaghetti, potato, whatever carb I decide to eat.) My biggest complaint is the plateauing. Sign....

But I have come so far now that I am NOT turning back. Good luck to all here in the New Year on their weight loss. Losing weight during the holidays is the toughest, but CAN be done!!

Purplebreeze,

So sorry noone has acknowledged your weight loss. Well keep sharing here and we will acknowledge with you. Too bad we couldn't send pic's. I am rooting for you to lose the weight in which you have gained back. Do not let anyone make you feel that depressed to gain it back. Do it for yourself! You can resume your weight loss.

Good luck and keep posting. If you would like to PM me maybe I can assist in your goal with you, somehow.

Losing weight is hard, especially if you've been over weight for some time. I plug everything I eat into myfitnesspal calorie counter daily. The weekends kill it for me but then I regain Mon-Fri. Plateauing is the big dipper, sign... Can't lose hope as I have come this far. 20 lbs more and I'll be at the weight I was when I met my husband 20 years ago. His encouragement is helping me keep the pace. I LOVE him soo. Thankfully he found an app that I have downloaded on my cell and tablet that I use daily to maintain my calorie intake. It's a blessing. I am blessed to have my husband help me in his own way.

Have a great day all. Keep up the great work. We can all do this!!

I actually start Tuesday, when I go back to work. I have a hard time dieting because so many of the "light" foods contain Aspartame, which gives me ferocious migraine headaches and severe muscle pain. So I'm still going to eat as light as I can and go portion sizes through Web MD.

http://www.webmd.com/diet/healthtool-portion-size-plate

I'm also going to start using my Tony Little gazelle & the treadmill in my house again, and maybe throw in an old Susan Powter workout video (because I CAN'T DANCE and end up nearly killing myself doing anything else) to shake things up.

The kicker was when I went to buy some clothes and my "fat" size was tight. That my friends will kick you into gear, lemme tell you.

purplebreeze, this time do it for yourself. I know it's great to get outside validation and compliments (and really, how blind do they have to be to not notice that? ) but the person whose opinion of you that matters the most is....YOU!

You lost that much weight, and you will do it again. And you can be the one who tells herself how great she looks. Then post here, and we'll tell you too.

Okay, so it's the first day of the new year. I'm dressed to exercise. Does that count?

Actually, I'm getting ready to create a new workout playlist, then charge my shuffle. I haven't used it in so long it's dead.

inconnu: lol @ dressed to exercise!

I did 20 min on the treadmill, then sit ups, leg lifts, and 5 minutes of stressing with my H while he finished a "biggest loser" workout on the Kinect.

If I can just get up everyday and do this, life will be so different.

Ugh dday 5&6 messed up my diet I did lose the few pounds I gained around thanksgiving, so still about 158, I need to get these 18 lbs off! I tried on bridesmaids dresses last week in size 10 the wedding isn't until august so I have time but would love to be wearing an 8 at the wedding. I wore a 12 on my own wedding day! I think I am going to kick it into high gear. I am still nursing for 4-6 more months so that helps with weight loss so I am going to get a plan in order. I am also on zoloft so hoping I don't gain from that.

alrighty! I braved the scale for the first time this year, and on a Monday no less. But I wanted a starting point for 2012. It wasn't where I want it to be, but I didn't gain over the holidays, either. (I did the gaining back in October. )

Goals for Jan:
-more protein, less carbs (cut out the white stuff - sugar, flour, etc.)
-cut back on the caffeine (again)
-start exercising. hello again, machine o' death.

It sure is lonely in here, considering it's a new year and all. Aren't we all supposed to be jumping on the "Be Healthy for the New Year" bandwagon?

Hello everyone. I hope there is room on this forum for my doublewide ass.

I've made the commitment to healthier living in 2012 and WH is on board. We've already made so many positive changes in the past year this should be a breeze, right??

Any motivational tricks out there to keep us going?

I'm also curious to hear about the detox/cleansing. I've been wanting to try this too and not sure where to begin.

Hi everyone, just checking in. I am down 62 pounds now and looking into plastic surgeons about a tummy tuck (yikes). I have been donating clothes, starting with size 20, and am now down to a size 6, with a spiffy new pair of Calvin Klein jeans...

From what I understand, I will lose anywhere from 10-15 pounds if I have the surgery, so that puts me almost right where I want to be, maybe I might want to lose another 10 pounds or so.

The way I have been doing this does not feel like a diet, it is a lifestyle change. Not feeling deprived, not feeling hungry, just feeling energized and exercising like a fanatic. Loving it!!

As Broken&Lonely said:

Hello everyone. I hope there is room on this forum for my doublewide ass.

Once upon a time (a decade or two ago) I lost 60 lbs on Weight Watchers and looked pretty good. Over the years I gained it back Ė plus a bunch more. Iíve tried many, many diets (including WW again) unsuccessfully. (Boy, itís sure weird to type WW to mean Weight Watchers!)

The infidelity diet helped me drop 50 lbs but Iíve gained back half of that and have a lot more I want to lose. So, in the spirit of the New Year I marched my doublewide ass back into Weight Watchers this weekend to give it another try hoping this time will be different.

Iím doing it for me and for my own self-esteem. But, I recognize that I need to be accountable to someone Ė hence joining WW. Plus, this time Iím going to reach out to people for support. I feel like an alcoholic that has to admit to having a problem. Iíve reached that point. I do have a problem and I am going to do something about it!

hey all! How's everyone doing? Let's see, I'm a fat ass but I'm working on that. I downloaded the myfitnesspal app to my iPhone and have been tracking everything diligently. I've been at the gym every day, except yesterday, since Wednesday of last week - back in the pool and back to Zumba. Did you know you can burn an average of 700 calories in a one hour session of Zumba?!?!? HOLY CRAP! So, I'm going to Zumba at least 3 times a week. Check in folks!
