I learned an important thing last night and I am going to share it with y'all to spare you the experience:

DO NOT TRY THE EXTRA STRENGTH ICY HOT ROLL ON STUFF! I REPEAT, DO NOT TRY THE EXTRA STRENGTH ICY HOT ROLL ON STUFF!

It is seriously extra strength. The icy part? Fine. The hot part? Try waking up at 3AM because you feel like someone set your leg on fire. Shower? Didn't fix it. Rubbing alcohol? Didn't fix it. Had to ride it out.

Do not make my mistake.

alrighty - I'm home from vacation ( ) and need to get back into the swing of things. I'm on fitocracy with
Thren but under a different username than here on
SI, so pm me if you're there and haven't figured out who I am.

I got more exercise than I expected on vacation. Not much of it was organized/planned, but just in the day-to-day stuff there was a lot more moving than I typically do at work. So, yay! I'm counting it.

Hello!

I finally stopped focusing on the A and turned the focus to me when I realized, "Hey, you're looking pretty good!!"

I joined www.sparkpeople.com. I track my food and exercise daily. It helps to keep me accountable. I've completely changed my lifestyle. I don't see it as a diet anymore. This is how I'll be for the rest of my life.

I'm trying to join as many sites as I can to get the support I need for this journey. I have no idea how much I weigh. I haven't weighed myself since Aug 2011. Pretty sure I'm down about 30 lbs though.

Oddly enough, I find myself exercising at the strangest times! While washing dishes, I do a few squats. While putting the dishes away, a few lunges. I even caught myself doing bicep curls at my desk at work while on the phone with an insurance company!!

I'm doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred DVD and I hate/love it. Thinking of trying the P90X but honestly, I'm scared I won't be able to do it.

I was wondering if anyone's spouse/significant other has been on board with the new lifestyle? Have they lost weight as well?

Been getting my support through the Fitocracy group Thren started.

I guess I could post this there since its a closed group- but I'll post here anyway.

I've been working my tail off every day except Sunday and even then I get some exercise in. It's been nearly three weeks and I've done my goal, and then some, of 15-20 mins a day.

Today I knew I needed a break and kept it to swimming with the kids.

Today also ended up being a triggery day. I ate more than I have in a loooong time. It was all pretty much healthy (changing my choices there) but I feel bloated.

I need to stop with letting emotions rule my eating. It just makes me feel worse about myself. Maybe once the bloat feeling goes I should get on the treadmill for a short run.

So just weighed myself..good news I am still in normal weight for me, bad news, I gained 6.5 from my low I diet. Haha, since I let stbx move back I stooped caring what I ate. Mini goal is to lose the 6.5 lbs for the wedding I will be in, in 7 weeks. I have been walking most days to blow off steam and stbx when he stops by to visit kids. I am having stress and nausea since he filed, but still eating, though I need to eat cleaner, sometimes I swear I can't even stand junk food but just don't want to cook.

I got my Rodney Yee Beginners Yoga DVD in the mail today! I am so excited, but I probably will not be able to do it until Friday. Tomorrow it my strength training day anyway and I really needed to find something to do on my "off" days. I cannot motivate myself to walk when it is so hot and humid outside.

HurtYetHealing, Way to go with getting what exercise you can when you can. I have not done either of the videos you mentions, I am more into strength training.

Holly-Isis, YOU ROCK!!! Seriously. I know you were down on yourself for a day of "bad eating" but you are working out virtually everyday. Even on your "off" days you are still kicking butt! You should be very proud of yourself

PlainsGirl29, Walking to blow off steam is good. Just watch out for the "I don't care" attitude. I got stuck in that rut for several years and slowly gained weight because I did not care. But now I am back to being healthy just for the sake of being healthy.

Hillbillie~ try Bio Freeze. My dad used to get it for me from his doctor for free(he had degenerative disk disease) I think you can get it over the counter. Just icy, no hot. Does wonders for my knee!

Hey all! How's everyone doing? Nobody has posted in over a week so I thought I'd check in. I started round 2 of P90X but this time I'm doing an Insanity hybrid. It's INTENSE - Insanity moreso than P90X. I'm glad I did P90 first because it built up my stamina to be able to endure Shaun T and his crazy ass workouts.

Also, I found this awesome website with kick ass recipes that are healthy - there are even gluten free recipes! So, I thought I'd share - http://www.skinnytaste.com/2008/03/recipe-index.html

Enjoy!

Ok - here I am. Why is it that when you decide you need to lose weight - eat healthier, that all you can think about is food?

I have been fairly consistent with diet and exercise for the last decade. I belong to a gym and really like classes that involve some weight lifting - I find it boring to just go lift on my own.

However, in the last year (I'm 51 and menopausal) I have put on at least 25 lbs. My SO loves to cook (he's better than me) and loves to eat. He really enjoys food - I used to just eat for energy. We have been enjoying food too much! He has also put on weight.

The other part of the equation is that I injured my knee 2 years ago (torn miniscus) during an exercise class and had to have surgery. And even though I did physical therapy - I haven't ever gotten back to the fitness level I was before. I also find that I can't do a lot of lateral movement as my knees are not what they used to be.

The exercise classes I like - kick boxing and body pump - tend to put stress on my knees, so I don't go regularly. I have been trying to get to the gym to do the EFX. I walk for 20 minutes a day most days of the week and I'm struggling to add in some weightlifting.

I just seem to be tired all the time - it is so hard to get motivated but my BMI is 28 and that is NOT acceptable to me. It does not help that it is 100+ degrees every day so outside exercise is difficult.

I am eating whole fresh foods - lean protein - whole grains - lots of vegetables and some fruit. I've cut way back on sweets and alcohol.

I guess I'm just looking for support and accountability.

alrighty, first day of a new month so time to bump this up again.

I've been slacking most of the summer. I can come up with all sorts of reasons why, but yeah, they're just excuses for me not making the time or pushing myself to exercise. Like I said, I've been a slacker. and it's seriously showing.

anyway, despite it not feeling at all like fall is on its way here, this has always been a "fresh start" time of year for me. I'm sure it's got something to do with starting the new school year, in September, after Labor Day, as a child.

one of my friends does fb events each month that are exercise challenges. September's challenge is to log 74 miles of exercise. I got in a 5 mile bike ride this morning.

I have rediscovered bike riding.

I use my heart rate monitor to track the calories burned.

In a 1 hour class at the YMCA I burn between 250-375 calories depending upon the class.

One hour of bike riding burns 700 calories! That is a way better use of my fitness time!

I started out 2 months ago riding between 3-5 miles. Now, on the weekends when I have time I can ride 30 miles. That is almost 2000 calories burned!

The best part is no stress on the joints and it feels like I am not expending that much effort. It also elieve stress and my Ipod on shuffle helps it not to become boring.

We have a path along a canal that is perfect for riding so there are no cars to combat.

Just thought I would share.

I hate exercies but love bike riding.

that's another great thing about bike riding - you build stamina so quickly. when I was riding regularly, not only was I able to increase my distance, but my average speed went way up too. I need to work my way back up again.

and now that I have a new job, I'm getting the itch to start looking at bikes again. I've got a mountain/trail bike but since I'm riding paved trails now, I'd really like to get a hybrid too.

I have a Trek hybrid and I love it. It is so nice and light and is perfect for me.

I went to the bike store and was measured to find the right size frame. I am 5'3 and my H is 6'1 and we had been riding the same sized bike before I bought this one.

You are right about the stamina inconnu. I am shocked at how far I was able to go in such a short time.

I did 30 miles this morning. My legs feel like jello but I burned almost 2000 calories!

got in a 7.6 mile ride this morning. boy, I can't wait until it cools off some, though. it was tough going for me, on the homestretch. some of it was, I know, due to how out of shape I am. but the heat and the humidity don't help any, either.

oh, and now I really want a hybrid step-through.

This is a great forum. This summer on vacation I gained 10lbs and CAN"T get it off. I lost so much weight on the infadeltiy diet, but once the stress subsided it came back. This might help me re-focus.
Thanks

Y'all help me!!!! I've slacked off so much this late spring/summer and stopped exercising and starting eating junk and guess what? I've gained some weight!

So now to get it back off and then some. I'm feeling very fatigued and need to get my energy back.

Just looking for some support.
