I had a real moment this weekend - I was watching videos from our summer vacation and I look HUGE! All I see when I look at me is boobs and butt, and it ain't good. I'm short - 5'2" so the weight really shows.

I knew I outgrew my clothes, but I just didn't realize what I look like - so depressing. But I must keep working. It took 2 years to put on and it won't come off over night.

I will not eat a leftover bagel. I will not eat a leftover bagel. I will not eat a leftover bagel.

Newlease, you can do it! One day at a time, one pound at a time.

Ama - How about you cut that bagel into 4 pieces. Only eat 1 piece. Add some lean turkey to it.

Good idea! But no turkey at work.

I actually just input all the food I brought for lunch and dinner, and I'm only at 800 calories for the day... I guess carrots/peppers and greek yogurt ranch aren't very calorie heavy.

Half a bagel, here I come!

Yay bagel! Last Saturday I bought DD bagels for the week. They were still warm and smushy. (We need a drooling emoticon). I split one with DD.

Is it too late to join in??

I need to be held accountable I guess. By myself?? I'm such a push-over

I was in two car accidents, one 3 yrs and one 2 yrs ago. Wrist surgeries, and back damage, both probably life-long. Well, nobody told me to cut out the food while being injured

I have lost 4 lbs in recent weeks, but need to lose another 25.

Can I squeak in?

*raises her hand*
May I join you?
I'm 5ft 5in tall and currently weighing in at a whopping 173lbs (ugh that hurts to admit). This number terrifies me.

I was nearly 300lbs at my highest weight, then had gastric bypass 11 years ago. In addition to the surgery, I ate better, exercised, and dropped to a low of 115lbs, then stabalized around 130lbs. I maintained 130-135lbs for about 8-9 years, but in the last couple of years, the weight has been creeping back up. I do NOT want to go back to being 300lbs with aching joints, etc.

Once again I've found myself in the lose/gain cycles. I'd like to lose a minimum of 22lbs, but would be happier with 30lbs.
I've been unsuccessful in the last year and a half with exercise and watching my intake. I'm an emotional eater and there have been a number of major changes and stressors in the last two years. I decided to give myself a jumpstart with MediFast for a 2-3 months, then transition back to the healthier eating that I was able to maintain for so long.

My food order is on its way and I hope to start on Sunday, Feb 24.

I've also started running again (after a few false starts over the last few months) in the last week. So far it is going well, since I convinced a few coworkers to go as a group during lunch. Accountability in the accounting department!

I'm really hoping that drinking all this water, eating healthy, and exercising, not only helps me lose weight, but makes my cholesterol go down, too.

I bet it will! At my Dr appt monday my cholesterol was down 30 pts from November!! I also take Omega-3 which the Dr says may be helping my overall triglycerides number, but that the cholesterol is probably more due to the weight loss and exercise.

Of course, since that Dr appt I have done nothing but BINGE all week Gotta get back up on the horse.

30 pts! That is terrific! Mine's close to 250 as of 3mos ago. Partly hereditary.

You can do it! Go have a healthy snack.

Please can I join?

I weight 160 lbs and I'm 5' 6". I need to lose 15lbs.

I have been trying to lose that 15lbs for 6 years since my DD was born.

I just comfort eat all day long, then I diet for a couple of days, then I go back to normal eating, then I start up the comfort eating. So I stay stuck at 160lns. I don't stick at it.

I have had major TT ending (I hope) a week ago and I really hope that with some emotional stabilization I can focus on myself.

Can anyone recommend an app?

Welcome, jemimapd!

I use my fitness pal. It tracks food, weight, and exercise. I was going overboard with tracking my food. So now I just track weight. Posting here each Sunday helps me.

You can do! Good luck.

I'm back on track with tracking on MFP, and I've been mostly good all week. I'm still doing some of the emotional eating (candy, ice cream, etc), but I've been a lot better with the protein and vegetables. And I only had one day that I went over my calories, and several where I was under. So I think it balanced out for the week. Over all I'm feeling better about how I'm eating. We'll see what my weigh-in tomorrow says, though.

I have signed up to MFP. Thanks!

My goal is to be consistent in my weight loss strategy. I think the week to week weighing on here will help a lot with that.

Well, MFP told me I could have 1200 calories a day

So I am going to add in exercise etc. I just find if I'm really hungry then I get tired and easily upset. I think 1500 may be more realistic for me, I am quite active though I filled in light activity.

Does anyone manage the 1200 a day and how do you do it!

MFP set me at something around 1250 calories. I managed it for about 2 weeks, and lost 3 lbs, but couldn't keep it up.

I spent some time reading the forums over there, and found a thread about tweaking your goal settings. The thread mentioned about your basal metabolic rate, and how you need to have that many calories for your body to function correctly. It had all sorts of information, and links to calculators online to figure this stuff out.

Turns out that what MFP set me at was about 200 calories a day below my BMR. So I followed the instructions in the thread and changed my settings. Now I'm at 1550 calories a day, which is much more do-able.

I don't want to break the rules here by posting a link to that thread at MFP, but if you're interested, look for a thread over there called In Place of a Roadmap 2.0. (revised). It's in the general diet section.
