So many of these to choose from.

Okay, my age is showing here, but a bad one for me is by Johnny Matthis (I know...I can hear you young uns going Johnny who?)

Title is The Twelfth of Never...it was "our" song. I cannot get through it without crying. Sigh... invokes too many memories.

Uhm. When I'm sad I don't listen to music. Sometimes music can make me sad, though. Traditional jazz when I'm alone at night is really depressing to me, for some reason. Daytime or when I'm with others I like it. Go figure.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Of course it helps to know you *have* enemies.

Ben Harper's "More than Sorry." I lost it the first time I listened to it after Dday, never putting it in the context of a lifeless marriage that led to infidelity.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RwRKJSTRWk

Lyrics:

goodbye

hasn't been so good to me

stepped out into the night

back against the moon

i saw ten thousand hands with candlelight

we all think that we're right

it's hard to tell

if the night is full of hope or doom

what more than sorry can i say

what more than sorry can i be

before our love fades away

what more than sorry

do you want from me

my eyes

burn with unshed tears

my body is weak

from so many silent years

too many people say goodbye

before they say hello

step into the morning

and disappear

what more than sorry can i say

what more than sorry can i be

before our love fades away

what more than sorry

do you want from me

what more than sorry can i say

what more than sorry can i be

before our love fades away

what more than sorry

do you want from me

The Killers' "Mr. Brightside." My wife and I loved this song before her A. Now I can't listen to it at all. She's apologized for ruining so many songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrkeWsQZNyU

Lyrics:

I'm coming out of my cage

And I've been doing just fine

Gotta gotta gotta be down

Because I want it all

It started out with a kiss

How did it end up like this

It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss

Now I'm falling asleep

And she's calling a cab

While he's having a smoke

And she's taking a drag

Now they're going to bed

And my stomach is sick

And it's all in my head

But she's touching his—chest

Now, he takes off her dress

Now, let me go

I just can't look its killing me

And taking control

Jealousy, turning saints into the sea

Swimming through sick lullabies

Choking on your alibis

But it's just the price I pay

Destiny is calling me

Open up my eager eyes

'Cause I'm Mr Brightside

I'm coming out of my cage

And I've been doing just fine

Gotta gotta gotta be down

Because I want it all

It started out with a kiss

How did it end up like this

It was only a kiss, it was only a kiss

Now I'm falling asleep

And she's calling a cab

While he's having a smoke

And she's taking a drag

Now they're going to bed

Linkin Park - Burning in the Skies

I used the deadwood to make the fire rise

The blood of innocence burning in the skies

I filled my cup with the rising of the sea

I poured it out in an ocean of debris

Ooooooooh!

(Chorus)

I'm swimming in the smoke

Of bridges I have burned

So don't apologize

I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

We held our breath when the clouds began to form

But you were lost in the beating of the storm

And in the end we were made to be apart

The seperate chambers of the human heart

Ooooooooh!

(Chorus)

I'm swimming in the smoke

Of bridges I have burned

So don't apologize

I'm losing what I don't deserve

It's in the blackened bones

Of bridges I have burned

So don't apologize

I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

(Solo)

(Chorus)

I'm swimming in the smoke

Of bridges I have burned

So don't apologize

I'm losing what I don't deserve

The blame is mine alone

For bridges I have burned

So don't apologize

I'm losing what I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

What I don't deserve

I used the deadwood to make the fire rise

The blood of innocence burning in the skies

Linking Park - Blackbirds

[Mike Shinoda feestyle]

Drop the mic, get up

Take to the streets

Of Iraq, yeah, get up

Face full of teeth

When it's hot, yeah, spit up

Tasting the beat

Like a beast

Rock on your block oversea

Speak from your gut

Like a rush of blood

Paint red on the stage

To the ones above

Lay the sick ones down

And the bells will ring

Put pennies on the eyes

Let the dead men sing

[Chester]

I shiver and shake

Through warm air cold

I'm alone

On my own

In every mistake

I dig this hole

Through my skin

And bones

It's harder starting over

Then never to have changed

With blackbirds following me

I'm digging out my grave

They close in swallowing me

The pain it comes in waves

I'm getting back what I gave

I sweat through the sheets

As daylight fades

As I waste

Away

It traps me inside

Mistakes I've made

That's the price

I pay

It's harder starting over

Than never to have changed

With blackbirds following me

I'm digging out my grave

They close in swallowing me

The pain it comes in waves

I'm getting back

What I gave

[Mike Shinoda]

I drop to the floor

Like I did before

Stop watching I'm coughing

I can't be more

What I want what I need

Over constant war

Like a well full of poison

A rotten core

The blood goes thin

The fever stings

And I shake from the hell

That the habits bring

Lay the sick ones down

The bells will ring

Put pennies on the eyes

Let the dead men sing

[Chester]

Blackbirds following me

I'm digging out my grave

They close in swallowing me

The pain it comes in waves

I'm getting back

What I gave

I'm getting back

What I gave

I'm getting back

What I gave

Porcelain, MOBY

Bad, U2

If you twist and turn away

If you tear yourself in two again

If I could, yes I would

If I could, I would

Let it go

Surrender

Dislocate

If I could throw this

Lifeless lifeline to the wind

Leave this heart of clay

See you break, break away

Into the night

Through the rain

Into the half-light

Through the flame

If I could through myself

Set your spirit free

I'd lead your heart away

See you break, break away

Into the light

And to the day

Oooh oooh, oooh oooh, oooh oooh oooh...

To let it go! And so fade away

To let it go!

And so fade away

I'm wide awake

I'm wide awake

Wide awake

I'm not sleeping, oh no, no, no

If you should ask then maybe they'd

Tell you what I would say

True colors fly in blue and black

Blue silken sky and burning flag

Colors crash, collide in blood shot eyes

Oooh oooh, oooh oooh, oooh oooh oooh...

If I could, you know I would

If I could, I would

Let it go

This desparation

Dislocation

Separation

Condemnation

Revelation

In temptation

Isolation

Desolation

Isolation

Let it go

And so fade away

To let it go, oh yeah

And so fade away

To let it go, oh No

And so fade away

I'm wide awake

I'm wide awake

Wide awake

I'm not sleeping oh no no

Sad in AZ ( member #24239) posted at 8:56 PM on Sunday, October 3rd, 2010

I don't listen to sad music when I'm sad; I don't want to push myself over the edge...

However, the song that makes me saddest is Still The One by Orleans. It came out right before stbxwh & I became engaged; every time I hear it, it makes me sad because I always thought of it as 'our' anthem. He was 'still the one' after almost 30 years--till d-day

You are important and you matter. Your feelings matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters. Your life matters. Always.
