If you like YA fiction, read The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. Amazing!
A bit of a t/j on Love You forever...when DS was about 15 going through a "goth" stage I gave in to black fingernail polish but stood firm on black eyeliner. He and I knew he'd easily do it behind my back once he left the house. It was one of our only real "fights" Both of us were upset. As he pouted on day 2 of our not speaking except as necessary, I handed him the book and said, "we may not always agree, but this is how I'll always feel about you." He read it, put it down and walked away.
About a week later he went to DC on a class trip. The next day was Mother's Day. My gift was a print of my favorite painting, The Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks. On the back, he had written
I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My mommy you'll be
He's 28 now, a wonderful nurse with a delightful gf and still a sensitive and sweet kid. Oh, and gave up the long hair and black polish!
Kids books rock!
