The buyers? No - they have no idea. But frankly, I'd welcome a low ball offer at this point. I haven't even seen one of those yet.

Bloody hell NIK!

And to think you were so quick in getting an offer before and was so close to completing. Your house is amazing!!! I'd love to live there.....!

I keep wandering with what to do with mine... I need to sell it, I want to sell it, but I also don't want to sell it and may not need to sell it.....

Does that make any sense at all???

The more it gets finished the more I love it, but then it has all the painful memories, but I'll also not be able to get a mortgage on anything similar any time soon, but do I really want to be commited to 2000 per month just for mortgage and basic bills? But if I get the job I may be offered in the next 2-3 months then I'll be able to afford it on my own, only just though, but then I'm still looking for contract work away from home and it can't sit empty.....

Around and around it goes! LOL

For now I just need to get it finished, although I'm worried now that with all the work put in to finish it ExSkankWhore STBXWW will try and take some of the little proffit it may achieve. So far I've spent little money but put in a lot of hours....... And I can't claim back hours apparently against the divorce finances.

Solicitor says I've nothing to worry about but I really don't know if I trust my solicitor or if indeed he is any good, I'm getting mixed vibes from him....

Its great new guys are joining the thread. I need to see it through to completion this time though!

Well, a days work done...

Dad fitted the new door and frame to the master en-suite so you don't have to look into the bare stone walled room that is awaiting plaster boarding.

I finished laying the carpet, pulled through the cables for my new wall mounted LED TV and mounted the TV, pulled trough the satellite cables through the back wall of the house and under the floor the the AV rack location so they no longer trail around the outside walls of the house.

Also put together the new (second hand) bed, got it squeaks...!!!

Think it'll get moved to the spare room when I've got a few more spare.

Tomorrow ill be building the old wardrobes from the spare room into the master bed. They'll stay until the house is finished upstairs and the new carpet is bought and fitted, then ill get some new stuff. Ill also be fitting the TV back on the wall in the living room.

It's starting to look really nice there again :)

I started this rassafrassin thread 9 flipping months ago, and I still have this house on my hands. ARRRGH!!!

We're doing an open house this weekend. Fingers crossed. And toes. And, at this point, eyes crossed as well.

Any news on the open house? Any sniffs at all?

I really can't believe your struggling to sell, your photos of your place looked amazing!

Been slow here, was hoping to get the house listed for sale this month but doesn't look like its going to happen.

In the last 2 months all I've done is fit some battening for a curtain rail and some skirting board.

I had plans on completely re landscaping the outside, repairing the messy looking render outside and completely finishing inside.....

I've effectively done next to nothing to achieve this end state.

I keep shifting between wanting to stay when the house is done and wanting to sell so I can move on.

Staying is committing to 2000 a month in basic bills without any real life living costs taken into account, and at present I have no firm work on whatsoever so no real income at all.

Selling would release me from my financial ties and give me a massive breathing space.

But I'm starting to really like it here, especially since all of ex skankywhore's stuff has gone.

Anyway, I need to keep posting here so I can see any progress I make in writing, I think it in some ways helps me to see I am making progress..

I have in the mean time spoken to the mortgage company who have now allowed me to list the house and sell with a potential negative equity outcome, the balance of which will then be transferred into a personal loan for me to manage. This loan would be on joint names but I doubt ex would pay anything as shes failed to pay anything at all since we split.

The agents who will be listing the house still believe i will be able to sell and achieve a small profit as long as I get the inside of the house completed and the outside walls painted. Knocking 15k off the advertised price for the lack of external landscaping. On the basis I was looking at spending 10,000 on the landscaping it will leave me with very little difference in the final balance.

I think that is now the direction I will head.

But I really don't want to sell.... It's becoming everything I wanted it to be as my dream home and it would mean moving back into shared housing to get me back on my feet. The shared house is also mine but i rent out rooms and it would mean living 100% bill free.

Its a no brainer I guess in reality..

That open house was cancelled due to an ice storm. Held another one this past weekend. My realtor is gathering feedback (a different realtor actual manned the open house), so I'm hoping to hear back from her today.

Ok - so there were 6 groups that came through the open house. Two were very interested, including one couple that spent an hour there and even measured rooms.

That couple is putting their house on the market, so if they do make an offer, it would likely be contingent on their sale. Been there, done that, got the financial scars to prove it.

So to recap... cautiously optimistic, but no offers yet.

Mine goes on the market for a short sale on Monday. I've been busting my ass on weekends and after work getting it ready to sell. I've got most of the odds and ends done (need to put down one more coat of elastomeric on the roof, do a little paining inside and out and install some hardware on a gate) and get the place cleaned out as much as possible. STBX's contributions so far have consisted of a few hours of yard work and a bunch of nasty texts.

Wish me luck. I want to get this place sold ASAP. No kids means no STBX in my life after this place is gone. Then she will really and truly be someone else's problem.

I went over to the house this morning to make sure the realtor had set my thermostat back to normal after the open house Saturday, and when I walked in, I found the gas fireplace was on. It had been running for FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS!!! Gah! Just what I need - a massive gas bill. Thanks, substitute realtor.

I took the opportunity to sprinkle the rest of my SI Christmas Card glitter around the outside of the house. I'm hoping that extra boost of SI magic lands me an offer soon.

Lucky you thought to go check or it could have been a lot worse!

I've taken a break from painting for the afternoon whilst waiting for the skirting boards in the dining room to dry.

Currently sat on the laptop applying for a job in Australia!
