I haven't read the book but just saw on the news that hardware stores have seen a spike in sales of cotton rope (and many are keeping a list of other bondage materials in case "Grey Husbands" ask)

There's a pretty active BDSM scene in my city. I know that they do workshops on basics- like rope tying. I really hope people are being safe and not just reading that book and trying to wing it. Doing research may not seem sexy, but spending date night in the ER is much more of a buzz kill.
12/18/15 found out my now EX boyfriend was trolling CL for underage girls. From the cops. The fun never stops.
