I'd love some help
I am going away soon and I can't think of anything I'd like to read. I have this habit lately of wandering around the library and finding nothing until I grab something I've already read.
I am currently reading Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. It's good, but I will be done before I go.

Do you have a genre in mind, at least?

Well..
I kind of like Women's stories. I don't know how else to explain it. Women in other cultures, women and adversity.. that kind of stuff.
I don't generally like Science Fiction. Everything else is fair game

A thousand Splendid Suns

is a great read if you haven't read it already.

For some light reading, great for vacations, try The Spellman series by Lisa Lutz

I just read Wild by Cheryl Strayed that you might find interesting, about her walking the Pacific Crest Trail.

Two excellent memoirs are:

Zainab Salbi, Between Two Worlds

Azar Nafisi, Reading Lolita in Tehran[/bold

There is a new book out by Stephen Carter. The title is something like The Impeachment of President Lincoln. It is a "what if" story, but the main character is a young free black woman who wants to study law. It's good.

Thank you everyone!! I looked up all of the suggestions and I will try all of them. I already read A Thousand Splendid Suns. That was a wonderful book, and a very emotional read for me

One fun place to try, too is this website:

http://www.literature-map.com/

You put in an author's name that you like, and it shows you other authors who are similar in style. I found some great books this way!

I just finished Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen. It was an easy read, and although I'm not someone who is into circus culture, it was actually very interesting to learn about. I think it would be a fun vacation read, though it is told from the perspective of a male character.
