opportunity

I was called at work and let it go to vm and returned the call during my lunch but I wasn't expecting a screening interview. I didn't even have the job details with me since I've been applying to so many.

I guess I should have waited to call back tomorrow after going home and looking things over?

Screening calls are so rough!

Don't lose hope. If you're a good fit for the job, they'll see that through an awkward interview.

Thanks, Ama

This is the 1st call since Jan. when I almost got that other job. I wish I had waited to call her back. I might have stood a chance. She said if I was considered for the next step they would call me next week. Also, not having a great day at work today. Anyone ever hear that saying about 20% of the people do 80% of the work

I pulled up the job on my smartphone and it was one of the ones I really thought I had a shot at

I am so upset with myself. I really botched the call

Maybe not. Keep the faith.

And maybe call back? Tell them, "you caught me off guard at work where I wasn't free to speak? And I'd like just another moment of your time to tell you why I want to work for you?"

One time there was a job I really wanted. I was given the company president's name/phone to call. I called, got voice mail, started in on my spiel and when I got to the part of "I got your name/number from ..." my mind went BLANK. For the life of me I couldn't remember the name of who referred me. I stammered and stumbled and then almost gasped in horror when I realized that ALL OF THIS WAS BEING RECORDED!

Ack. So I stopped. And then said, "I'm sorry, but I just totally lost my train of thought." And then the name came to me and I went on as if there wasn't a good minute of nonsense at the beginning of the voice mail.

And I got the call back. And I got the job. And that company president is still one of my closest business contacts/mentors.

Sometimes showing how you handle "adversity" can be the ticket.

Take heart! You haven't been aced out yet.

Thanks, Cayc

Well, I did go to my car to call her back but I wasn't prepared for a phone interview. I didn't have the job info and thought this was the call to set up the interview. Oh, well. At least now I know that maybe calling back later after I've had time to look things over might not be a bad idea. I'll probably talk myself into calling her late next week. That's a great story about how your job search turned out

Ok, I need some opinions on my follow up call to the screening interview.

She called on Wed. and said they would call people for interviews this week. Should I wait until Friday to call and see if she had any additional questions? I don't know what to do exactly as I feel like I messed up this chance and need to somehow salvage it. Any ideas?

Thanks
