I would love to know why my weight goes down on Monday after I've down the Sunday weigh in.

WakingFromADream posted 3/27/2013 11:29 AM

Do you eat out Saturday? If so you might be retaining water due to high salt content.

WakingFromADream posted 3/27/2013 11:37 AM

Anyway, spotted this thread recently and thought I would contribute. I started running again a few weeks ago after taking the winter off to let my knees heal. I'm up to almost three miles every other day and hope to slowly increase the distance. Spring league is right around the corner for a sport in which I'm involved. I've been keeping track of what I'm eating and have dropped 8 lbs. in the past four weeks, 1.5 this last week.

Mine always goes up on Monday! Makes me feel like a fraud.

Edie posted 3/27/2013 17:37 PM

Oh, NIK, does yours go up on Monday? I've been in a blue funk all day because I seemed to have gained 2 lbs overnight last night and no idea how that happened, as yesterday was a fast day. Was beginning to feel useless.

Nope. I eat exactly the same and exercise. I think my body is just messing with me.

jo2love posted 3/27/2013 19:07 PM

@Nik

Edie, Are you drinking lots of water?

Edie - Weighing yourself daily is really SUCH a bad idea. I know I shouldn't do it. When I do, I drive myself nuts over the fluctuations.

...and yet, I can't stop myself from stepping on that damn scale each morning.

Bad NIK. Bad bad NIK.

Let's get a good list of reasons to drop extra weight and eat healthy and exercise. I'm feeling a lack of motivation except every morning when dressing. I'm just a sagging pear!!

But knowing that doesnt keep my hand out of the candy jar.

jo2love posted 3/27/2013 20:36 PM

The fact that I have refused to buy bigger clothes for 2yrs and my cholesterol is high, are my motivation. Love that everyone is still checking in since January. It motivates me.

Same problem here. I have yet to find something that sticks. The only reason I lost weight before is because I stopped eating. Maybe I just need to embrace myself at this size... ? Idk.

Down 2 lbs this morning for the week before my run. Go me.

jo2love posted 3/31/2013 15:59 PM

I lost 1.7 lbs.

Edie posted 3/31/2013 16:25 PM

@NIK, it's too cold here to strip off enough to weigh myself daily!

@ Jo. No, not nearly enough water - maybe I am retaining fluid to compensate.

Sunday weigh-in: the same, but that is good because have been eating fantastic hotel breakfasts for most if the week, so am quite relieved not to see an increase of the 7 or 8 pounds I was expecting. This helped by Saturday's fast. I must say I am finding the 5:2 fasting diet really good. Something very 'satisfying' about fasting: the mind seems to sharpen up somehow, and also, without seeming too priggish, (ok, quite priggish) hunger is ...well...empathetic. Ok, said that, know its kind of a bit privileged western BUT ....I mean it! You feel things more keenly.

Also, have taken up the Tabata training (very short intense interval training) Am really enjoying it and highly recommend it.

The extensive health benefits of both the fasting regime and Tabata seem very convincing. Can say more if anyone interested, (or both are easily googled.)

Down 1 lb this week, would have sworn I would have been up.

Keep moving forward everyone, hopefully spring weather will get us all out and moving soon.

And yes, don't do the daily weigh in! Life shouldn't be about stepping on a scale daily, once a week will do just fine.

ajsmom posted 4/1/2013 09:31 AM

I weigh-in at WW on Sunday's so no "official" weigh-in. I did weigh myself at home and was down 1.6 but will wait until next week Sunday for "official" results. Hopefully Easter didn’t kill me too badly.

I finally did my measurements and am happy to report I am down a total of 19.5 inches in various parts since 9/2. The biggest losses were in my waist (-6 “), hips (-4.5 “) and arms (-6 “). The girls stayed the same.

So, even though my weight loss has only been averaging -1.3 to -1.5 pounds per week, my shape is changing.

I'm also down 3 sizes!

Woo Hoo!

I upped my workout tonight. I did Zumba, boot camp, and then another Zumba class (different teacher). I burned 1571+ calories! Not sure how much for sure cuz I adjusted my chest strap mid-way through the first lass and lost my heart beat signal. Whoops! We will see how I feel tomorrow.... my legs are sore already. Hopefully, the scale will be a bit kinder to me this week.
