So, the bad news is that I didn't lose any this week. The good news is that I had a few kick ass workouts, including a killer five mile run on a new trail route, and I didn't pig out afterwards. So I'll take that. Oh, plus I saw some of my cousins today and a few of them said that I looked great so I guess the hard work is paying off in that department too. The real payoff for me however is that I'm not having any knee pain going up or down stairs anymore and I don't feel like a fat blob. So, lots of good progress I think.
That's awesome, Waking. I'm glad your knee isn't hurting.
I gained 1 pound. I've been slacking foodwise. Plus since I fell and hurt myself, I've been chicken to exercise. I'm 9.3 lbs from my goal.
Oh, my. I haven't checked in for awhile.
Since my last update, I'm down .8 for a total of -48.4 since 9/2.
I went two weeks without a Y visit due to some work traveling then an injury to my bad foot. I started back up a week ago Sunday and hit my goal of attending a spin class by June. I did that last week Wednesday and my ass still hurts.
OMG, those damn seats! I hate you even more, Lance Armstrong! I even went to the extent of getting a gel seat cover ($8 at Aldi's - perfect timing) and truthfully I think that is what did me in. I was chafed peeps. Chafed! Totally wasn’t expecting that!
My plan is to hit it again tomorrow and hope for the best. Or, if weather permits, ride my bike outdoors on Wednesday nights instead.
Because I was becoming somewhat discouraged (the 2-week Y hiatus was a killer), I took a serious look at my overall goal and I revamped it. It was initially to lose 100 pounds in a year by 9/2/13 but I am fast realizing my body isn’t giving up the weight as fast as I’d like despite a pretty intense workout schedule. My trainers told me that is a completely normal thing and my WW coach told me that I should be putting back half of the points I earn exercising as proteins into my body to help it rid the fat. I’ve also retooled my diet a bit – adding oil to my daily morning oatmeal and switching to skim milk. If you’re looking for a list of fat burning foods, Google “MUFA’S” and “Flavonoids.” Interesting stuff.
As I refuse to give up the things I enjoy (mostly my adult beverages ) and have no desire to starve myself either, I need to keep myself happy with my progress. As my overall weekly loss average is -1.2 per week, and given it’s summer and I hope to be more active outdoors, I’ve extended my goal to December of this year. That gives me a solid six months to take the rest off.
Hopefully it will work for me and I’ll feel less stressed out about the whole thing.
woohoo! DS21 put the new tires on my bike tonight. Now I have smoother "hybrid" tires instead of the knobby mountain bike tires. And I watched, so I could learn how to change a tire. I got in a very quick test ride and then it started to rain. But at least my bike is ready to go and I can start riding again.
That's awesome, ajsmom!
Yay! That is so nice of your DS, inconnu.
I got in a 3.88 mile bike ride before work on Friday, and did a 5.5 mile ride this morning.
I think I'll set my goal at getting in 2 or 3 shorter rides during the week before work, and then build up to doing a longer ride on the weekend.
The scale was still in the 149 range this weekend, so hopefully with the increased exercise I'll start seeing some changes over the next several weeks.
How's everyone else doing?
I lost 1/2 a pound. Goal is in sight.
woohoo! that's great, jo!
Finally a little movement on the scale. I'm 41.2 lbs from goal. It's so much easier to eat right when it's Farmer's Market season and I'm not stocking the fridge and pantry for teenagers.
There should be a rule that's once we have worked so hard to lose this weight, our bodies promise us never to gain it back.
Regained the .8 I lost the past two weeks though the intensity of my workouts has increased (I've added an hour of spin class weekly).
Spoke to my WW coach and she's pretty sure I am under-eating, especially given the amount of points I have left over at the end of the week.
So the new plan is to calorie and protein load on workout days and really watch those days I'm not working out and see if things change. Apparently my body is holding fast to the fat due to a lack of nutrients.
Sigh. I want that copper minus 50 pounds ring for my charm ring very badly!
Since I'm back on a regular work schedule, I can take advantage again of our office's walking paths. There are several paths around the perimeter of the property. The longest one is a mile, and I hit it this morning for my coffee break.
Holy cats, people - it's already hot and humid today! I'm drenched in sweat now and have to spend the rest of the day stinking up the joint.
I think I'll revise my schedule and walk at the end of the day from now on, even though that means it will be even hotter. That way I'll just stink on my ride home.
lol, NIK. I tried walking at lunch last fall, and it was great on those few days where it was overcast and cooler than usual. And then the sun came back out, and the humidity got back to normal...
I'm drenched in sweat now and have to spend the rest of the day stinking up the joint.
I decided to start posting in here since I'm all healed up from my weight loss surgery.
I'm 48 lbs down since surgery in April..with about 75 lbs to go.
I'm still on a pretty calorie restricted diet, but I'm off of diet restricted foods (if that makes sense)..meaning that I'm allowed to eat solid food.
My fiance and I walk between 1-2 miles a day for exercise.
No weight training, yet, as I'm not quite cleared to lift anything over 10 lbs. I should be by my next appt, next month.
It's amazing the energy level I have now, and I keep hearing that it's going to increase more and more as I lose more and more weight.
Has anyone else had weight loss surgery, that they'd like to talk about?
I had gastric lap banding in April.
Good luck everyone on reaching your goals!!
Anyone else feel like making a quick trip to the store for ice cream?
I stopped at the store on my way home. I resisted the ice cream, and the chocolate. I did succumb to a bottle of wine and the stuff to make quesadillas, though. Cheesy goodness melted on flour tortillas, with guacamole and sour cream...it's what's for dinner. Yum!
That sounds delicious.
I am getting ready to put my house on the market so I have been ruthlessly purging my closets. I have gotten rid of all the size 6s that I wore following the infidelity diet. I also said goodbye to the size 8s as I don't want them mocking me.
My weight is what it is, but going through those small clothes made me reminisce about how good I looked then - I was working my tail off to deal with stress and hardly eating because of same.
Now I am fat and happy. I'm 52 years old and I love me on the inside, but the outside could use a little work. I don't need to be back where I was, but I would like to be a really good looking size 10 again.
I've lost 2lbs this week. Need to work in more exercise.
Down a pound last week so back to 1.4 to go until I hit the elusive -50 pounds.
Still working out and riding the bicycle, though with rain predicted this week, I'll probably spin again.
My poor arse.
What kind of scale do you have? What do you like about it? I'm thinking about getting a new one, but there's so many to choose from!!
I have an electronic scale that is by weight watchers. Kmart had it on sale and it matched my bathroom.
