I was going to do a cardio piloxing class last night, but the instructor had to cancel. I can't remember what's on the schedule for tomorrow night, but I'm going to do my best not to wimp out and skip the class. I may miss it anyway, depending on traffic on the way home from work. They practically shut the city down today, so tomorrow traffic will be nuts, to make up for my much shorter than normal commute times today.

Thank you for the warm welcome Elaine2012.

Piloxing? Que?? Let me guess: pilates+kickboxing?

So I just fired up Fitday again after many years away. It's a fabulous tool for tracking intake and exercise.

At my age I'm apparently supposed to be tapering down to about 2000 calories a day. I'm way over that for my activity level, so that explains a lot.

Even with cutting way back on alcohol, it's going to take some scrutiny and swapping out things on my food list, plus bumping up the burn factor, to make anything move here.

But I'm sick today so I'm going to get well first, then it will be biking season again.

It would appear that I have had a 'whoosh' -- woke up two pounds lighter.

I'll take it.

That's awesome, Faith!!

I am SO excited! Went to weigh in today and lost 2.6 lbs from last week. Total of 18 lbs!!! It's the first time I have been below 200 in almost 2 years!!

FaithFool posted 2/1/2014 01:27 AM

See? It does work, this behaviour modification thing. Yay us!

LosferWords posted 2/1/2014 16:11 PM

One month into the new year, and down six pounds. Yay!!!

Great to see so many others having success as well. Cheers to us!

I am 3 months post-partum and I have lost 30lbs doing my version of a low carb diet. I am also doing Taebo abs when the baby is asleep. I gained so much weight during my pregnancy. I went from 200lbs to 258lbs. Now I'm 228lbs and my goal is to be 150lbs at 5'7". WH keeps blaming his cheating on my weight gain. I just want to feel good and be healthy.

jo2love posted 2/2/2014 19:00 PM

I have been eating my feelings the last 2 weeks. Gained 7lbs. I know better. I have all the tools to succeed. I just need to gather my strength for a battle I have tomorrow and get myself back to portion control.

I haven't posted on this for quite a while. I just COULD NOT get motivated. However, SO went to the Dr for the first time in 3 years right after Christmas. He has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and borderline diabetes. They put him on BP and cholesterol meds and gave him 3 months to clean up his diet.

So together we have been on a low salt, low fat, low carb, low sugar diet. We have greatly increased our fruits and veggies and cut out nearly all sweets and high fat meats. We have taken a cautious approach to exercise, walking 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week and trying to move more at home.

He has lost 17 lbs, and I have lost 10 lbs. I'm so happy! We both have a lot more to lose, but I feel like this is a good start. I need to include some weight lifting, but think I'll start low and work on reps.

Dreamboat posted 2/7/2014 16:40 PM

Listening to an audio book while on the treadmill is really working well for me! In the past 14 days I have walked 12 of them, sometimes for more than an hour. Making the rule that I can only listen to the book when I walk has lead to a couple of late night walk/listen fests

I am not sure if I have lost weight because I keep forgetting to weigh myself first thing in the morning. But my legs feel slimmer in my jeans. If I really wanted to lose weight then I would stop drinking (I type as I take a sip of my drink...) I obviously do not want to lose weight that badly

WH keeps blaming his cheating on my weight gain.

BrooklynLove, you know that is crap right? He is blameshifting, do not allow those ugly thoughts to enter you mind.

JessicaFL127, consider you butt officially kicked! Now get out there and exercise!!

I have not posted for weeks, as I am too embarrassed!

DD and I are still on WW. We did so well, even on our cruise. Since then?? Nada!! Both of us.

It hit me this morning that the reason I am probably not losing is I am taking steps to S/D my H. Although yesterday was actually the first time that I totally didn't care what I ate, I think the coritsol in my system is just f'ng me up!!

Oh well, at least I haven't gained any of the weight I lost, right?

And I ran my first complete mile today, at work-out! I HATE to run so this is BIG for me

I am cheering for all of you!

I came down with one of those drippy head colds so I didn't make it to Wednesday's class. I'm going back and forth between being stuff and drippy (still) today so I won't be making tonight's class either. SO and I walked for a while today though, so at least I moved some. I forgot to clip on my new tracker this morning, so I have no idea how far we walked.

ff, the piloxing class was really cool. It's boxing, pilates, and some dance mixed together. I am so not coordinated enough to manage all the moves, but I had a lot of fun.

jo2love posted 2/9/2014 08:35 AM

I hope you feel better, inconnu.

I lost 2 lbs. Still have another 15-17 to go.
I need a reminder to exercise.

ajsmom posted 2/10/2014 09:18 AM

Hey, y'all.

After the birthday trip to see the boy and that humiliating Super Bowl I had to suffer through, I'm down 2.2.

Like inconnu, I've been sick with my second round of a nasty sinus infection since January that had worked its way into my chest. This one put me on a cycle of the good old Z-Pack so I didn't work out at all last week. Breathing took precedence.

Went yesterday for the hour long Body Attack and got through about 3/4's of it before the lungs felt like they were going to explode. My next chance to take that is Thursday but I may take a spin class before that to get back into the groove.

Can't wait for winter to be done. I wanna ride my bike.

inconnu posted 2/10/2014 19:57 PM

Me, too. Apparently I've become rather spoiled by spring happening in February here, and this year we're actually having a winter. I know it's nothing like your winter, but it's still not bike riding weather yet, for me at least.

I'm still not feeling up to doing an exercise class so I skipped tonight's piloxing. Hopefully by Wednesday's cardio class that will change. Like ajsmom said, breathing takes precedence, though.

JessicaFL127 posted 2/11/2014 17:37 PM

Thanks, Dreamboat. I've picked myself up and gotten back on track. If I use myfitnesspal app, it helps keep me in line. My biggest challenge will be to get out in the cold and hit the gym. Or at least get into the habit of working out daily at home. Or something. :/

inconnu posted 2/16/2014 18:21 PM

Finally, warmer weather here. I cleaned and lubed the chain on my bike this evening, and aired up the tires. I have tomorrow off from work because of Presidents' Day so I'm planning on going for a ride in the morning. It'll probably be a short one, since I haven't ridden in months, plus I still have lingering symptoms of that stupid cold. But it'll be nice to get back to some sort of exercise.

And if I survive the bike ride, I'm going to go to pilates class tomorrow night.

How's everyone else doing?

I started noticing that I was putting on weight a few months ago when my pants were getting super tight on me...

I don't usually own a scale.. I hate them... I've always been obsessed with the number it shows me... but I decided to buy one to see how much weight I've really gained....

I was NOT happy with the number it showed me... I had never been that weight b4 (only once when I was pregnant with my first) I thought, something has to be done....!!!

I friend of mine lost a lot of weight a few years ago bc she started counting calories... she hates working out, so it made sense to her and it worked...

I decided to give it a try (since I hate working out too) and I'm proud to say that I've lost a total of 12.6 lbs!! JUST counting calories actually works :) I know I should be including some sort of work out regimen into my schedule...... but I haven't found anything that I really like...

I still have about 10lbs b4 I reach my goal... but I know I can do it :)
