I feel so lazy next to all of you doing zumba.

little turtle - I rotate. One day is lifting with dumbbells and arm exercises w/o weights.
Then I have 2 days of 4 different types of crunches (70 each). 2 days of legs. Nothing crazy. Stand up lift leg backwards 10 times, then to the side, and forward. 7 sets of 10 each for both legs.

I am so so so so so discouraged....

I am using MyFitnessPal to monitor my food/calories... 1200 calories a day.

I am eating mostly healthy choices...

I've upped my activity level... from couch potato to more active things like gardening and walking and cleaning...

And I haven't lost a damn thing!!!! Not even a tiny little bit.

I went down 2 lbs and they came right back.

I haven't gained anything... that's a plus.

But DAMN!!! I used to just not eat for a day and lose weight... now I breath and gain it.

I drink so much water I float!!!

Never drink soda, diet or regular. One cup of coffee in the morning.

I am staying away from junk. Eating fruit, veggies, lean protien and whole grains.

Sounds like you are on track. Maybe an extra walk?

I have my off weeks, too. I'll do everything right, but the scale doesn't budge.

Have you had your thyroid checked recently? Maybe up the amount of exercise?

I am hypothyroid - I have been for 20 years now. According to my Dr it is currently being controlled by medication.

Personally I think my Dr is full of hot air... I really need to see an endocronogist I think.

I have been using Myfitnesspal since 2/28. I haven't been perfect, but I log every thing I eat even if I was "bad". I don't know what the heck else to do at this point.

I know I have to get on my treadclimber.

But if you restrict intake for 1.5 months you should lose a little something! Yes?

I lowered my bad fat...not the "good" kind (That sounds weird), sugar, and salt. I traded regular chocolate for Fiber1 90 calories brownies. I try to eat more fiber and exercise. Which I am currently stalling doing today.

Maybe seeing an endo is a good idea. I think you know your body best. Follow your gut.

With all the eating right and exercise, my cholesterol only went down 12 points. I know it's partially hereditary, but I am still disappointed.

jrc, I hear you. I've been attending Zumba classes nearly every week since July. I was going 4 times a week for awhile. I made some small diet changes, but nothing major. I figured if I'm exercising, that should do something. In December, I realized that I'm eating more when I exercise. Which is probably why I was simply maintaining my weight. I've recently (month ago?) stopped ordering pop/soda while out to eat and made more healthier choices of foods to eat. No change.

3 Mondays ago, I've started taking boot camp class. I work out for 3 hours taking zumba, boot camp, and then another zumba class. 2nd class is 1/2 off and 3rd class is free! Well, I think I lost a pound....

This week, I've made myself a goal to drink 1 bottle of water each day - at minimum. The bottles are 16.9 oz. Prior to this week, I drank water only while out to eat, a few sips at work and a glass or 2 at bowling each week. I'm addicted to pop, but I noticed yesterday I only drank 1 can.

I hope to see some progress soon. I'm trying to make changes that I can live with rather than temporary changes. I should get myself to the doctor to see if there's anything else that could be influencing my struggle.

Even though there appears to be no changes, we've got to keep on moving because if nothing else, we're living healthier lifestyles.

How do you stay motivated?

My best-friend went twice and encouraged me to join her. $12 for 3 hours of exercise with awesome instructors is a steal. My legs are having trouble getting through the 2nd zumba class, but my heart rate is still up and calories are going! According to my heart-rate monitor watch, I lost a little over 1500 calories yesterday. It helps that best-friend has become a skinny-mini since starting Zumba in July and making healthy eating choices. I wanna be skinny too!!!

I'm thinking about going back tonight for another class.

I use the treadmill sometimes, but not enough. I need to do more cardio. I get winded easily. The exercises I do are ones I learned way back in high school dance class. They target problem areas and I can feel/see the difference when I do them.

jrc, are you maybe eating too little? 1200 cal/day seems like a really little amount. Have you looked into your basal metabolic rate? Maybe you need to do a new activity to "shock" your body to get it out of a rut.

jo2Love, have you considered something like C25K or spin?

As for me, I was able to go for a run yesterday. It was a easier than I had been doing and a bit less distance but it felt great. The rest paid off and I didn't have any pain from the pulled muscle. I've been keeping track of what I'm eating again and I think I'll be losing more than last week. Time will tell though.

Maybe you could look into an event in which to participate: a 5k, a sprint tri, a marathon relay, an adult/rec sports league (softball, volleyball, soccer, ultimate, etc). Might not relieve the boredom in the now but could give you some motivation to continue. Just make it a small step at first so you can succeed and not get injured. (i.e. don't start off trying to train for a marathon when you haven't yet run a mile.

Greetings all!

Down another pound, not bad considering it was a really bad week, M wise.
I bought a pedometer and will be attempting 10,00 steps a day. Feel free to join me!

Still using MyFitnesspal and aiming for 1400 calories a day. Feeling healthier and much happier, usually.
I need to love myself more, this is a start.

I signed on here probably 2 months ago

I have dropped 6.5 lbs so far.

A nutritionist I saw told me, when you exercise, you actually need to eat MORE. Of course the hitch is to eat more protein, not M&M's

I gotta say when I follow the plan it does work, but since I am a carb fiend it is beyond slow going!!

I have been weight lifting for 7 yrs (and they're pretty heavy weights now) so I pretty much don't get the newbie benefits anymore.

But I have ramped up my cardio (HATE it!) as my DD and I are doing a mud run in June.

I also have to be careful as I had 2 car accidents in one year, and my lower back is screwed up royally!!

And I AM OLD!!

still2suspicious - 6.5 lbs is good. It's progress. Better to have slow progress that fast and gain it all back, right? You rock!

I lost .4 lbs this week. I'm less than 8 lbs from my goal.
