User Topic: pregnancy tests?

Question for the parents out there: What did you do with the used pregnancy test after you got a positive?

I ask because one of my friends posted on fb today that she kept a test from a year and a half ago in a ziploc bag waiting for April Fools Day this year to give it to her husband (they have 3yo twins and a 9 month old).

I'm seriously icked out at the thought of keeping a pee-covered pregnancy test in a ziploc in your drawer for that long (or ... at all ... ) but wonder if this is grosser for me because I'm not a parent.

ETA: I guess she got his husband pretty good though. He was eating when she showed him and he actually choked on his food.

Tossed mine...but I did score one with a sharpy marker to look like a positive result.

X was NOT amused.

WE had twins, single, single. With the twins the line was deep pink the singles were much lighter. The fake positive was purple.

This was after having tubal ligation. Like I said, he was not amused.

After trying for 4 years and IVF, I kept my tests that I peed on five years ago. lol They were the first and only positive tests I'd ever had (and ever will).

I have them tucked away with the bit of baby stuff I have saved. I don't share those with people.

Yeah, I can see me totally saving that. As long as I am not using the peed in stick to stir cocktails I have no issues with saving it for my own memories. Kids can throw it away when I am dead.

Embarrassed to admit that I have every single positive test I ever had. I even moved them to the apartment with me. I kept the tests from the miscarried pregnancies and the pregnancies with my children.

I didn't keep them, but I know lots of people who did. To be honest, once you've been a parent for awhile you've dealt with so much pee and poop that really the pee on a stick in a Ziploc baggie sounds quite hygenic and pleasant

Tossed it without a second thought.

Well, after spending an hour starring at it and thinking "OMG! I'm pregnant. What do I do NOW??!!" Mind you this was a planned pregnancy and I was still freaked out.

I threw them away. But I gotta say, if she left if out for a few minutes after peeing on it, the stick does dry. I can't imagine someone sticking a wet test in a baggie. And, remember, pee is fairly sterile, at least that's what I've been told.

20+ years ago they weren't really *reliable* - so I never used them. But if I had, I don't think I would have saved 'em.

But I do like the April Fool's joke idea!

I didn't get the pleasure of doing my pee stick at home... I didn't know I was knocked up.

I did mine in the Drs office (well they did it with my pee) and I never even saw the thing.

Was the one and only positive I've ever had and I didn't even get to see the + sign...

Now I'm kinda sad.

I still wouldn't have kept it tho.

Didn't realize so many people kept them. I would have never thought to do that when my son was conceived. Then again, I am not that sentimental of a person either. Having my son is proof enough that the pregnancy was real.

Somewhere I have a Polaroid (remember those?) with a pic of a stuffed animal and the positive pregnancy test for DS.

Not the actual stick.

I couldn't tell you with DD...those poor second kids don't get quite the same documentation most of the time...

But she sure knows her birth story. Even told some guy at the pool last summer.

I didn't even realize keeping them was an option. I tossed them without a second thought.
