O.k. Just trying to figure this out. We are throwing a really fun party for our kids and a parent has asked that we add in parents. They offered to pay for that part of it, but that will probably end up not happening. I am kind of stunned. In my 25 years of parenting I have never run into this. It is a bowling party and they want us to add a lane for parents. This is kind of a swanky place, so it isn't cheap. My main concern is that this is a parent that drinks a lot, we don't do that around our kids. So, how do you respond to a pushy nice parent? I think I will go ahead and add a lane. Just not sure why someone would feel ok asking this? Then when the drinking starts. I am not paying for that!

"I'm sorry, this party is just for kids. If you want to stay and bowl on your own separate from the party, you're certainly free to on your own"
Sheesh! Pushy is right. Also rude and ignorant.

This happened to me ONCE!

I told the parent that I had already confirmed the number of lanes, if they wanted to reserve their own lane next to us??? well here is the number to the bowling alley.

They did, and their kid was BEYOND embarrassed that they did. They were the only parents bowling in that lane. All the others dropped off the kids... it was a 13yo birthday party.

The kid apologized to me for her parents doing that.

So weird,

Good luck,

K

I agree with still strong.. if they want to rent a lane by themselves fine but I wouldn't include it in your KID party

"Sorry" works when a mistake is made, but not when trust is broken. So in life, make mistakes, but never break trust. Because forgiving is easy, but forgetting & trusting again is sometimes impossible

Are people just getting ruder and ruder? I have a grown daughter and never experienced this. Glad that others have had this, as well. I am going to respond today and say that I couldn't reserve another lane.
