I was like that pre-shotstorm. When H and I were S' d, I coildnt get into books or even TV. It toom me at least 6 months after R to be able to enjoy reading again. And reading and reading passionately is so much of who I am, that it made me depressed. So happy I can read like that again.

Yes, definitely.

There have been a handful of books/book series I've read that have left really, really lasting impressions. Even years later, I have the same emotional response when thinking of the characters---whether I've re-read or not. Larry McMurtry and John Steinbeck are especially good at getting me really invested in the characters.

For that reason alone, I have certain books that I keep around to read again and again.

The Tiger Prince and The Golden Barbarian by Iris Johansen; and her Wind Dancer series

The Awakening, The Velvet Promise, and The Duchess by Jude Devereaux

Season of the Sun and Earth Song by Catherine Coulter

Anything by Ken Follett. Well, mostly; I really didn't like the Pillars books, but the rest of them?

absolutely. i try to slow down my voracious curiosity toward the end...so they won't go away. glad i'm not alone.

the stand by stephen king did that to me. i really liked some of the characters in that story. it was long and we grew attached.

I still miss Harry Potter and company desperately.

That's really the only one.

I miss Harry Potter too!

My DD is also a huge Potter fan, so we still talk about it quite often. Like if we're stuck in traffic we'll talk about how nice it would be to apperate.

I actually made her a Hogwarts acceptance letter for her 11 b-day this year.

Yes, I miss Mr. Darcy all the time.

And Scout. I have to reread that book every few years because I miss her.

Jamie and Claire from Outlander series.

Harry Potter characters.

Those are the two main ones I can think of right now. As an aside, why does Jamie Fraser have to be fictional?!
