Do you believe in ghosts?

I didn't want to T/J the Ghostbuster thread, but personally I don't believe in ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them. I actually think it would be cool to stay in for real haunted house, but maybe they are only haunted for believers . Of course, I do like messing with people who do believe in ghosts, such as my wife. So do you believe in ghosts? If so, why? If not, why not? My "why not" is I've never seen any evidence of anything paranormal that couldn't be explained scientifically. And seeing something that was filmed on television to get ratings and sell commercials cannot, IMO, be considered authentic. I do believe I'll have a beer soon, and enjoy my Friday evening while I contemplate the "spirits"

I do believe because I've had too many experiences that couldn't be explained with science.

Some experiences date back to my childhood and were pretty scary, so I won't list those. The most recent experience was I heard a young child's laugh/giggle (different than my children) late at night next to my bed. No one was in the room and my children were asleep.

I do. Just a lot of moments, could be explained, but I don't mind the notion.

My high school physics teacher believed the spirit leaves the body at death. He said that the carbon weight decreases ever so slightly after death, and the decrease has yet to be accounted for scientifically.

I do. Like simplyd I have experiences going back to childhood. I have seen actual spirits--I'm promise I'm not a kook either. I don't talk about it with many people because it seems strange just saying it out loud even and the time I have shared some of my experiences people looked at me like, well like I was a kook!

Cool! And for the record, I'm not trying to start a debate on whether or not ghosts/spirits/faeries are real, just interested in if you believe in them or not. There are no wrong answers, and I would be the last one to question someone else personal experience. That's why I think it would be fun to stay in a haunted house, or somewhere people are affected by paranormal experiences.

There are a lot of sites out there that list places (restaurants, B&B's, etc...) that you can go to. There's a restaurant just south of me that in a certain room (it's in an hold house) people have experienced things, like being tapped on the shoulder while dining.

My friend and I were having this conversation years ago. I said that I didn't want to rule anything out, but until I saw one I didn't exactly believe in their existence.

Then one presented. Scared us s#!%less but answered my question.

I owe Authenticnow the full story but I don't have the time to type it all out here.

ETA: We were scared because it was both completely unexpected and coincidental. Nothing jumped out and yelled boogety boo.

Yes. I've had experiences as an adult that were unsettling or without explanation but the things from when I was a child were terrifying and more frequent.

In my experience nothing makes you sound like a nut quicker than telling the stories so I don't.. but yes, I do.

I really want to believe, but I've never had a really concrete experience; I've always thought that my father or my grandmother would make themselves known to me if they were in the afterlife. Then I think it would probably scare the shit out of me, so they're probably doing me a favor by not showing themselves.

I've had some 'experiences' but nothing like sully's.

We're the first owners of the house we live in now, so it shouldn't be haunted, but our lights and faucets have a way of turning themselves on every now and again.

I do believe, I do believe, I do believe in ghost.

My mothers house has spirits that are there. Many people have experienced stuff there. My niece at the age of 3 didn't like sleeping in her room. She told my sister one night that people keep talking to her. She told her to tell them to leave her alone, they did. Children voices are heard all the time. The house is about 140 years old and was once the house where the priest would live for the local catholic church.

Nothing scary just paranormal. We do not call the house haunted but spirited.

I don't think I do- I like the 'scared' feeling though so I'm remaining open minded

My daughter swears an old lady was in her room a couple of years ago and told her she'd turn her heart into a pumpkin but we've put it down to sleepy 3 year old and Disney.

My SIL believed her though- we live in a Victorian house so... Plenty of people will have passed through!!

I do. I had one experience when I was about 13/14, in the children's home I grew up in. Before lights out, I made *sure* my closet door was closed. Heard it latch. When I woke up the next morning, it was ajar about 2 inches. *Someone* opened the door and it wasn't me. I didn't have a roommate either.

I woke up one night and there was a man standing over my bed. I was terrified but I couldn't scream. Then I felt the mattress start to depress--he was climbing into the bed! Then I screamed & woke the X; he said, very calmly, "It was my father." (A very evil man who died a few years earlier.) This has since been explained to be as a night terror. I'm not totally convinced...

I also saw a woman wearing a long skirt and a shawl walk into the room where I was working at a BIA agency office in Montana. I was walking down the hall toward the office. When I got there (within a few seconds, no one was in the room. I checked the kitchen next door and no one was in there either. I was told it was the 'Shawl Woman' who haunts the agency. It was a brand new building but it was explained to me that it had never been blessed.
