can someone explain a 2nd connection to me with less than 2 connections? Why woudl that occur?

2nd connection = 2 degrees of separation.

If Jane is connected with Mark, they are 1st connections.

If Mark is connected to Tim, but Jane is not connected to Tim, Jane and Tim and 2nd connections.

Similarly, if Tim and Anne are connected, but Anne is not connected with either Mark or Jane, Anne and Jane are 3rd connections (and Anne and Mark are 2nd connections)

I think 3rd degree is the furthest it goes before someone is "out of network"

Less than 2 connections just means that the person has fewer than 2 connections. I see this a lot when someone creates a profile but doesn't use it.
