Yes it's an addiction and is one that many people break, saying "oh they're an addict and can't help it" is just enabling them in my opinion.

Of course not every child of a smoking mother ends up with issues, it's the same with any risky behaviour but for a mother to take that risk with their innocent, unborn child is deplorable. Motherhood is about love and sacrifice you can't love our child enough to stop smoking for a few months to protect their health at such a vulnerable time then you are not ready to be a mother and stop putting yourself first for the next 18 years.

Nicotine is as addicting if not more than heroin. I was a smoker prior to getting pregnant and thankfully I had such horrible morning sickness it was a done deal, HOWEVER, I went through withdrawl, and it was not easy. Any OB will tell you that higher stress on the mother is worse for the baby. The fact is, is that Enabling is doing something for someone that they are capable of doing themselves. Your opinion of it, is not the same. IL hit it on the head, people aren't educated enough on addiction, once you have a loved one that is and addict and seek out support, you have no idea how hard it is
