Or at least I did. They seem to be piling on top of one another lately. From dealing with my ADHD?/Tourettes?/Aspergers? son, to comforting my BFF who is dying of cancer (at 40! simply not right!!!), to remodeling the kitchen (it's really awesome but overwhelming since we - mostly hubby - are doing the work ourselves), to personal illness (I have a UTI - and GERD - that will NOT go away!), to a job that I love but is just not going very well at all right now... my days have been so frustrating and difficult lately.

Today (this week/month - including May), it's my job. I love love love what I do. I love the company I work for. I respect very much my boss. But right now, he and I are not seeing eye to eye. His opinion on how to handle a difficult situation we are faced with (media relations and a difficult and very biased reporter) flip flops from day to day. And no matter how hard I try, we can't get on the same wavelength. I'm a pleaser, and I am sad that I can't please my company at the moment.

So my solution - which sounds like it belongs in F&G - is wine today. And cookies - Oreos of assorted flavor (classic, mint, yellow birthday cake, and coconut fudge cremes). And finally, reading on SI.

I am not a prolific poster by any means. Most of you probably don't recognize my name, because in my 7+ years here, I haven't posted that much as I never feel I have much insightful to say. But I read nearly every damn day and feel like I know so many of you so well. And this place saves me.

The issues that brought me here are very much part of my past, but y'all are very much part of my present in helping me make it through each day. So thanks.

End of wine fueled ruminating.

Hi Stroppy, I remember you! Sorry you're having a rough time.

Oreos and wine eh? Sounds like an acid bomb recipe. Chase them down with a nice healthy smoothie to hopefully coat them so they don't come back to haunt you.

Hopefully your new kitchen will be so awesome that all of this will be a distant memory soon.

Stroppy I think I have the cure for your GERD....Wine and oreos?!?

Yah you might want not to do that.

Seriously girl hang in there. Are you on a PPI (nexium like drug) make sure you are taking one every day NO MATTER WHAT, 30 minutes before you eat or DRINK anything else, so when you roll out of bed.

I find soooo many folks dont'take it right, then wonder why their GERD is so bad.

Aw thanks all for that. I'm feeling much better today. And embarassed about my ranting last night! I know this too shall pass. Sometimes, however, I wish I had a magic wand to make it pass NOW! Haven't we all been there?!

For the record - yeah. Wine and Oreos. I know what a poor choice that was! It just felt necessary at the moment!

TushNurse - I am on Nexium. This is my 15th day. I appreciate the advice regarding how/when to take it. And maybe that was part of my issue - the doctor simply told me to take one a day (this whole GERD thing is new for me. I thought I was having a heart attack!). So I was taking it at night before bed. I'll switch to the mornings and see if it helps!

Thanks again everyone! (Oh by the way - I wasn't complaining about being unknown - it was actually more of an apology because I know I should contribute as often as I read! So I felt bad if y'all read this and said "Who the heck is this complaining woman?" )

This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine with the Dr's. They don't get that people don't know the ins and outs, they assume you know, or that the Pharm will tell you. It's just plain lazy.

It may take a while for everything to get better, if you had that severe of pain. I would say take an over the counter H2 inhibitor at bedtime too, like Zantac or Tagamet. At least until it's under control. Also sleep with the Head of your bed elevated either with pillows or actually tilting your bed placing bricks (or something similar under the head of the bed.
Lastly limit caffeine and chocolate, and here's the hard one....Do Not eat 3 hours prior to bedtime (this includes alcohol).

Hope this helps, and I hope everything else will settle for you soon.
