Hello all! Just wanted to let you know that I haven't died...I'm just in a third world country that has unreliable Internet access So far it's been an overall good experience...we have provided medical care to over 500 people who otherwise may never see a doctor or nurse; tomorrow we see another 200. We also visited two hospitals here...although the conditions in which one facility operates in are definitely third world you can tell there is a dedication to the patients and the healthcare staff does the best they can with the resources they have available to them. Today I've been asleep in the hotel most of the day as I've come down with a bad stomach bug, but I'm finally starting to feel better. Tomorrow I will be back at it and Saturday we will visit an orphanage. Sunday we will be leaving, which is going to be very difficult for me, as I have come to love the beauty of the scenery (despite the haze from pollution) and the beauty & kindness of the people here. I know I will return to this country again...there is too much (medical work) to do here to not come back!

Mama, I comend you for your good work. The world needs more people like you.

t/j: Now, can you run up to Djibouti and give my son a hug for me?

Thank you everyone. It has been a great experience

What, what is your son in Djibouti for? We were actually just talking with someone, who had lived there, yesterday.

Thank you again everyone...I'm just doing what I can with the talents I've been blessed with. There are so many people all over the world who do not have access to quality healthcare and I know I can make a difference if I used these talents

Jrc, I am sure I will have a hard time not bringing one of those mini's home with me

This is a great thing you are doing Mama. Any chance you had time to take some pictures that you are able to share with us?

Mama,
My son is in the Navy Reserves and volunteered to do a 1 year tour and he chose Djibouti. He's at Camp Lemmonier in Djibouti City. Left in March.

He likes it there, it's just so so hot!

Stay safe!

Mama, What a great experience. I have always wanted to a medical mission trip, but it never worked out for me. I am hoping with this new healthcare company I am with the opportunity will be there.

I talke with a nurse who was going on her second mission trip to the middle east. She said is awful to see how the women, and girls are treated, and that is the accepted norm. Yuck.

Anyway I digress.....Kudos to you.

I think what you're doing is totally awesome!

When I was younger (and could sleep on the floor) I did medical missions in Guatemala and Honduras. It changed my life.
